      Georges Marchal steals the show

      ..... If there's anything to steal !

In the French forties ,Georges Marchal starred in Henri Mahé 's first and only effort , "Blondine" (1945)his first foray into the fairy tales world

Mahé's new process was called "simpli-film " ;the settings were replaced by drawings and photographs placed between the lens and the actors. Thus ,it would create something magic , the world of the fairy-tale.

With the eventual settings of the Black Prince,'s castle here they are cheap and rather ugly ; as the title reads, much time is given to the seven dwarfs, and their pranks and misadventures are extremely dull and not funny at all ; nothing to match Disney's cartoon characters ,by a long shot! Prince Charming is bland and has absolutely no screen presence .

Rosanna Podesta has almost nothing to do,but is a gorgeous SnowWhite ; the only real actor is Georges Marchal -a man who would often work with Luis Bunuel -and his performance is impressive ; his lines about the "room of mirrors" are almost Poesque ;the rest is insignificant.

Not as bad as they say.

This movie is legendary in some circles as a bad kiddie flick from Italy, but after watching it I have to say that it isn't that bad. It's basically a sequel to the fairy tale we all know as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Just when you thought she was living happily ever after with Prince Charming, along comes war and intrigue and the political problems that any prince must deal with. He's double-crossed so the dwarves go to help him. Their adventures along the way do get a little long near the end, but finally they help the prince and princess and save the day. While most of us are used to seeing the Snow White story aimed at a very young audience, this one's probably more appropriate for kids just a little bit older. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't buy it for my own kids, but for a movie made in an Axis country just a few years after WWII ended it's not bad. I would like to play it for a youngster just to get their reaction. They might even like it, just for the dwarves' antics if nothing else.

Cheap, wierd, tacky and strange.....but I loved it!!!

Take a beautiful Italian starlett, seven little people, a devil in tights and mix in cheap special effects.....and you will have "Seven Dwarfs to the Rescue". This movie has to be one of the strangest chapters in the Snow White legend, but it has it's good points. Rossana Podesta makes a very charming and beautiful Snow White. The seven little men are much better than the children used in the 1955 German film "Schneewittchen". The sets and costumes are "community theatre" quality......and the special effects make Ed Wood's films look like "Gone With the Wind" or "Titanic". the American dubbed version is terrible, so watch this film with an open mind and a good sense of humor!!!!

Watch it for laughs...and the BEAUTIFUL Rossana Podesta!

I collect Snow White memorabilia and film, so when I heard about this Italian continuation of the famous Grimm story, I was anxious to see it. I finally ordered the video and sat down one dreary day to view it. By the end of the movie, I was so slap happy from the goofy antics on screen, the cold rainy weather outside seemed to fade away.

If you watch this movie, I highly recommend doing so with an open mind and a a silly mood. This film could hold it's own with the famous Ed Wood films of the 1950's and 1960's.

Cast as the "Fairest One Of All" is Italian beauty Rossana Podesta, who in the 1960's would later be the "Face that launched a 1000 ships" as the title character in Robert Wise's "Helen of Troy". It would have been nice to see her play Snow White in a version of the original story, with a more serious plot and better director. She certainly is a beauty and is truly the highlight of the film. But very sadly ill used.

I won't give away any of the story line or slapstick humor. But I will warn you about the toilet in the ground in the middle of the forest that "flushes" the seven dwarfs into the land of the Sea Maidens. It's one of the highlights of the film!

Just think of the old Hollywood serials of the 1930's and you will get the idea. Sort of a "Snow White meets Ming the Merciless". The sets for Prince of Darkenss's (Georges Marchal) lair look like left over sets from Flash Gordon.

Considered to be one of the worst films ever made, SEVEN DWARFS TO THE RESCUE has charm and makes for a mindless 90min of entertainment.

Ouch! This movie makes my Brane hurt!!1!

Wow. "Seven Dwarves To The Rescue" must be one of the worst films ever made. It rivals "Plan 9 From Outer Space". This is a live action B&W film; the copy I saw dubbed in English from the original Italian. This is an amazingly campy piece of cheap schlock. I don't know what the people who made this turkey were thinking... except that they evidently thought that having a large woman fall on top of a dwarf was pretty funny, since they use that gag repeatedly.

Thumbs way down, clothes-pin on the nose.
