Brenda Joyce owns a major soup company. The new butler, Mischa Auer, has persuaded her to be a communist, so sales of the company's soup drop off nationwide. After she gets waiter George Murphy fired and put in jail, Auer points out that if she is going to sell the company and donate the money to the Party, she has to revive the company until her 21st birthday. So she gets Murphy out of jaiil and begins a mock romance with him, much to the chagrin of her uncle, Charlie Ruggles, and her fiance, Ralph Bellamy, who is running for Congress.

This 20th Century-Fox B comedy has a goodly number of comic actors, and Elsa Maxwell too, but its high concept approach towards a screwball comedy seems unhappily grumpy to me. Still, keep an eye out for Maxie Rosenbloom, Berton Churchill, and Franklin Pangborn.
