    Grand entertainment

Lawyer Butler, wanting Jeff Carson's ranch, has the Sheriff and his gang frame the bank holdup on him. Then they kill a witness that could free Carson and blame the murder on his son Sunset. But Sunset escapes, frees his father, and sets a trap to catch the real killers.

Sunset Carson stars in another quality b-western which has an engaging plot, which is filled with sufficient twist and turns, and there's a feeling of fun running through out with Carson, his dad, the sidekick, the heroine and her doctor father trying to clear Carson's father's name. Roy Barcroft plays the former outlaw father who is framed by Blackie -a knife throwing lawyer - and the sheriff; it's nice to see Barcroft play a good guy for a change. There's some good action amidst the involving plot, especially the finale where Carson and the lawyer have a rambunctious fight in the office. Quite exciting fisticuffs.

    The telltale nickname

Seeing this film it is interesting to see Roy Barcroft as a good guy as that happened so rarely on the big screen. What's more he and Sunset Carson are father and son.

Back in the day Barcroft was an outlaw known as The Cherokee Flash and has been trying to live it down. But some of his old gang keep trying to drag him back in. Trying to use that to their advantage are crooked lawyer John Merton and crooked sheriff Bud Geary who want the ranch that Barcroft owns.

Fortunately for him Barcroft has an adopted son in Sunset Carson and a loyal hand in Tom London. One ironic thing was that Barcroft had knowledge of a nickname that could have unraveled the dastardly doings long before they were if Sunset had only told him.

The Cherokee Flash is a good introduction to cowboy hero Sunset Carson.

Sunset saves his dad & saves the day !

In this 1945 western entry from Sunset Carson, Carson's dad is framed for a crime he did not commit, and Sunset must work to free him and clear the family name. Fistfights, shootouts and general mayhem ensue !

Sunset Carson's tall, good ol' boy persona works well in this role. He was no actor, but handled action and humor equally well here. Linda Stirling again appears as the female lead and is as lovely and talented as ever.

Overall, this was an entertaining film, though nothing out of the ordinary. Fans of Carson will like it and others will find it a good time-passer.
