    • Trivia
This nearly all-Russian war film, about the defense of the Russian navy port of Sevastopol during WW2, had to be shot at the Georgian Film Studio in Tblisi, to which the Leningrad directing team of Iosif Kheifits and Aleksandr Zarkhy, along with their Russian cast and crew, had been evacuated. Leningrad had been surrounded and seized by the Germans.
