    problem with baby

Larry, Curly, and Moe find a baby left on their doorstep by a woman. They try to feed the baby with limited success. The cops are looking for a baby and the kidnappers. When the cops show up, the guys have to hide the baby.

I don't like that they dump the baby out the window and then take off. It's convenient that the kid ends up in their car. Quite frankly, the guys are not the best playing around with a baby. They are good with food being thrown at them but otherwise, they can't throw it back. The inciting premise of the cop and his wife is less nice than the movie wants it to be. I'm not sure if the guys are good with babies. This has some laughs and some problems.

    Very good Three Stooges short!

The Three Stooges has always been some of the many actors that I have loved. I love just about every one of the shorts that they have made. I love all six of the Stooges (Curly, Shemp, Moe, Larry, Joe, and Curly Joe)! All of the shorts are hilarious and also star many other great actors and actresses which a lot of them was in many of the shorts! In My opinion The Three Stooges is some of the greatest actors ever and is the all time funniest comedy team!

In My opinion this is a very funny short. Appearing in this short subject are Bud Jamison, Dudley Dickerson, Joyce Gardner, Julie Gibson, and Clarence Straight. The baby scenes with The Stooges are extremely funny and the cop scenes are cool. In My opinion those scenes are before their time! I recommend this Three Stooges short!

The Stooges Show a Tender Heart Towards Babies

Despite all the physical abuse the Three Stooges dished out to one another, the comedians' hearts melted when it came to babies and animals. Two back-to-back movies serve as a prime example of their softie attitude towards tiny tykes and horses. In November 1942 "Sock-A-Bye Baby," their final film of the year, the Stooges find themselves with a baby left at their doorstep by a despondent mother. They immediately get into the tender parental mode by first buying the abandoned kid a variety of adult food, starting off by feeding it a radish. The baby boy, who was played by little girl Joyce Gardner, gives out an enormous belch after finishing the large radish. He's then clothed with the Stooges cutting up their checkered table cloth and holding the seams together with safety pins. To hydrate him they placed a nipple on a beer bottle. Curly, who was known to have had a love for the brew in real life, can't help but take a nip from the bottle, only to see it spray all over the place. It's a good excuse for him and Moe to contain the beer by continuing to drink it via the nipple.

Filming "Sock-A-Bye Baby," a variation on the popular phrase 'Rock-a-bye baby,' took place in the spring of 1942, just a few months after Pearl Harbor at the height of anti-Japanese hysteria. A couple of World War Two references made their way into the Stooges' jargon in the short. Curly catches himself mid-sentence while singing to the baby about Japan and spits out, "What am I saying....on the Japanese?" Moe then asks Curly, "What did you eat when you were a baby?" Curly replies, "Weeds." While trying to feed the baby an artichoke, Moe realizes how difficult it is to eat, and labeled the vegetable a 'Nazi Onion.'

One of the Better Stooges Shorts

    Sock-a-Bye Baby (1942)

    *** 1/2 (out of 4)

Hilarious shorts has The Three Stooges waking up from a deep sleep after hearing a baby crying. Thinking it's a tomcat, the boys go out on the porch to throw shoes at it but they then see a baby in a basket and plan on becoming fathers. The plan is going well until they hear that a baby has been kidnapped.

SOCK-A-BYE BABY is one of the better shorts from the Stooges as it contains pretty much one big laugh right after another. There are so many funny moments here but one of the highlights has to be the sequence where the three men are sleeping on the floor and Curly thinks he tickling the baby but of course it turns out to be Moe. The slapstick violence that the boys are best remembered for is one full display here but the best moments of the film simply show them trying their hardest to be good fathers but just always doing something wrong. There's also some very funny dialogue here including one line dealing with a certain member being one-third a father.

The best of the 'baby' shorts

I thought that this was one of the boys 'overlooked' shorts and it seems that this short isn't a hardcore favorite, I thought that this short was awesome, like the scenes when they try the diaper on Curly, when Larry buys the baby beer, when the baby throws spaghetti at Moe, when Curly couldn't pronounce artichoke and Moe tells Curly that it is 'you oughta choke', or when Larry uses a pair of scissors and accidentally stab Moe's butt, the best part of the short is the chase scene.
