Pretty Bad Story But Some Nice Visuals

Edmund Lowe crashes his plane in the Klondike, and is rescued by chance and saved by Doctor Ralph Morgan. There are other patients, including blind Eddy Waller, who rejoices in the imaginative character name of "Blindy." Worst is William Henry, whose body is crippled and whose spirit is dying, despite his love for for nurse Lucile Fairbanks. As it turns out, Lowe is a brilliant surgeon whose novel operation on a friend for the exact same condition resulted in the man's death and Lowe fleeing in shame and disgrace.

It's an early movie from he King Brothers, and despite a cast that includes Robert Middlemass and Clyde Cook (on the downside it includes Vince Barnett) it's an utter piece of unlikely melodramatic tripe, with a tweedly, annoying score by Edward J. Kay that for some reason was Oscar-nominated. Nonetheless, director William K. Howard pulls some of his visual magic from the early 1930s with the help of DP L. William O'Connell.
