Good guys do wear black...though this is far from McCoy's best.

I have long enjoyed Tim McCoy's B-westerns--mostly because he didn't sing, wasn't so pretty and was a real-life tough guy. However, just because I enjoy his films doesn't mean I'm blind to his misfires--and this one is a misfire.

The film has an ultra-simple plot. The ugly Mitchell brothers want a government contract to supply horses to the army, so they vow to destroy Tim Walker (McCoy) and take away his contract. This is a huge problem with the plot--it's painfully obvious to EVERYONE from the start what they're up to and the brothers just look like two hobos they took off the street--not menacing villains. Additionally, the film is a bit slow and the rest of the characters rather uninteresting. Clearly a film for his fans but practically no one else.

    • Trivia
One of over a hundred Columbia features, mostly Westerns, sold to Hygo Television Films in the 1950s, who marketed them under the name of Gail Pictures; opening credits were redesigned, with some titles misspelled, the credit order of the players rearranged, some names misspelled, and new end titles attached, thus eliminating any evidence of their Columbia roots. Apparently, the original material was not retained in most of the cases, and the films have survived, even in the Sony library, only with these haphazardly created replacement opening and end credits.
