This A.S. Filmproduksjon film was the first Norway import to the U.S. It's first US showing was at NYC's 48th Street Theatre, with Norwegian dialogue and no English titles.

The films stars Toralf Sando (who also directed)and the story concerns his trials and tribulations in trying to become a citizen worthy enough to marry the Squire's daughter.

Film Daily predicted this comedy would get a good reception from Scandinavian audiences but the lack of English titles would restrict the audience size. The 113-minute running time on its original Norway release was cut down to 92 minutes on the US version.
