    seldom shown zane grey story

Pretty much a remake of the 1926 silent film. With the story by... zane grey, of course. He was the prolific writer of so many westerns, which are still being found in attics. Buster crabbe is nevada... he and weary (syd saylor) grab the stolen bank money from setter in an ambush. They talk about taking a long vacation, but get caught up in a horse trade for the gov'ment. Setter returns to goof up their plans yet again. So nevada and weary have to prove their innocence once again. The sound and picture quality are just awful, but it's one of the "long lost" zane grey pictures we're lucky to still have in any form. The copyright ran out, so they just made copies of copies and sold em. It's okay. A 56 minute B western from paramount studios. Directed by charles barton. He had started as assistant director in the silents, and was in the right place at the right time for talkies. He won an oscar in 1934. Buster crabbe was in ten of grey's westerns. Didn't win any oscars, but he does have a star on hollywood boulevard!

    • Trivia
This is one of 20 Zane Grey stories, filmed by Paramount in the 1930s, which it sold to Favorite Films for re-release, circa 1950-52. The failure of Paramount, the original copyright holder, to renew the film's copyright resulted in it falling into public domain, meaning that virtually anyone could duplicate and sell a VHS/DVD copy of the film. Therefore, many of the versions of this film available on the market are either severely (and usually badly) edited and/or of extremely poor quality, having been duped from second- or third-generation (or more) copies of the film.
