Hundreds of extras dressed in historical uniforms from 1863, Russian Cossacks and dragoons on delicious mounts and insurgents in primitive weapons take part in battle scenes, directed on a grand scale. The charge of the Russian army deployed in tyrailleur, encircling the insurgents hidden in the mill, was impressive. The skirmish was so realistic that the locals, horrified by the prolonged gunfight, thought they were on a real battlefield.
