To call this stupid but would an understatement.

"Trimmed in Furs" is a bad comedy short...which isn't surprising since it's a comedy from Educational Pictures. Educational had the distinction of bringing out the worst in talented actors due to inept writing and direction. What they made a good film, such as "Bridge Wives", it was purely by accident!

A man's wife insists on having a new fur coat (which in today's money would cost around $60000). To save money, he decides to go shoot some animals and making his own coat for her. So, he phones a friend who owns a hunting lodge to ask him if he can stay there. Only ONE MINUTE LATER, a prima donna actress is having a meltdown....saying she needs peace and quiet. So, he offers to let her stay at the same hunting lodge where his friend is going shooting. HUH?? Did the friend have a head injury?! Otherwise, this made zero sense.

What follows is a film so slapsticky and dumb that the Three Stooges, by comparison, are thespians! A guy running about in a cow costume (which later becomes filled with helium and floats away), a woman flying across the room and all sorts of other very physical nonsense occurs. Sadly, some of this MIGHT have worked had there been any reason for it. Apparently, the writer (if there was one) thought that action was the same as comedy.

Overall, a really bad film...poorly made and terribly unfunny unless you have VERY low standards for humor.

    Poorly Made & Ineffective

This poorly made, ineffective short comedy doesn't really have any strengths. The cast could be considered adequate, but it's undistinguished, and the rest of it is just weak. The writing and directing are especially sloppy. The story has several different characters converging on a hunting lodge for various reasons, and getting into a series of misadventures, but it just doesn't come off. There are many slapstick sequences and sight gags, but hardly any of them work, because they are put together so poorly. The only real benefit of watching a dud like this is that it helps you appreciate how hard this type of comedy really is. When slapstick works, it seems effortless, but it really takes careful setup and timing. Unfortunately, there isn't any of that here, and it's not really worth watching.
