The Medicine Man

Claude Allister is an impoverished upper-class twit, Pettingell the disapproving wealthy businessman with working class roots whose cute daughter is unaccountably smitten with the clueless toff. Petingell gets drunk with his mistress while claiming to be at a temperance meeting, and Allister poses as a doctor in order to get his friend out of a jam. Much hilarity tries to ensue when their paths cross but is frustrated by a listless script that struggles for laughs. It's a lot funnier when Pettingell's doing his drunk routine - Allister's nice-but-dim act simply grates.
