The Road Agent

Florence Lee is very sick, and her niece, Ione Reed, is taking care of her. This doesn't suit Lew Meehan, who wants to marry Miss Reed and gain control of the ranch. However, she doesn't wish to marry him, and Miss Lee won't decide whether she's going to die or not until her son, Al Hoxie comes home. Luckily for Meehan, he notices that "the Kansas Kid" is a dead ringer for Hoxie, since he is also played by Hoxie; a sinister plan is formed and executed....

It's a decent enough B western directed by J.P. McGowan. While Al Hoxie is no Jack Hoxie when it comes to acting, he does look different when you put him in a suit. Hoxie had followed his brother into the cowboy movies, and he was a decent enough silent rider that he didn't stink up the screen. His movie career, however, did not survive the silents by much. His last feature was made in 1930. Later, he held a bunch of jobs, including one in which he had to subdue an armed madman with hostages. He died in 1982, aged 80.
