No Fool Like a Young Fool

When Doctor Cullen Landis botches his first major surgery, his father mocks him and his best girl throws him over. He winds up a doctor with a circus, where he and star trapeze artist Pauline Garon fall in love. However, circus owner Robert Graves wants her too in this so-so circus melodrama.

Part of the problem with what should be an unobjectionable Poverty Row production may be that whoever cut down the copy I saw did a poor job of pacing. While the IMDb lists its running time as 65 minutes, the Grapevine Video DVD timed in ten minutes shorter. A real problem is Miss Garon's performance. She is far too coquettish.

Director Archie Mayo may not have had enough time to get good performances, but he does handle the comedy segments with a light touch. The result is a watchable B movie.
