Fair Comedy Mostly Watchable Because of Mabel Normand

This is really only a fair silent comedy, which is mostly watchable because of Mabel Normand, who gets some good chances to display her charm and her ability. There are a couple of other positive features, but not quite enough to make it anything more than average overall.

The story takes place at a party during which Mabel's character has just become engaged, and it involves some simple, mildly amusing situations. There is one annoying party guest whose antics add something extra towards the beginning, but which begin to wear a little thin after a while. (That's nothing against the actor who portrays the character - he seems fairly talented at slapstick.)

Normand carries most of it, and she is engaging as always, besides using her comical facial expressions and the like to good effect. Overall, it's not a bad film, but without such an appealing actress as the lead, it would have been pretty plain.
