    Not that good!

"Drømmebyggerne" is a bored film with a slow script and a cheap story, it could be better. The animation is fine, some scenes are nice but there is no more to talk about this film.

7 star the movie with a bonus

The animation is good. Not as good as a todays Pixar or Dreamworks movie but pretty damn good for a Danish production whose budget is definitely much lower. Major flaws are in facial expressions and in body movements. Ok, they are portraying Danish folks and as that you cannot expect Mediterranean expressions so this is not much of a problem (ok, I am joking but I am allowed to say that 'cause I lived 3 yy in Copenhagen and I love Danskerne).

As for the story it is a revisitation of something already seen but in a very different flavor. The idea could be something a Monster & Co but the development is totally new, to my knowledge.

1 star more than actually deserved because of the effort and the result totally lacking the unbearable attitude of todays American Studios, full of politically correct garbage and hidden (actually not so hidden) ideological inputs (see the fact that it is NOW impossible to have white characters even if the animation movie is set in France during Middle Age, see the very last Live Action Beauty and the beast).

Creative, whimsical and bright. Good lesson also.

The film DreamBuilders is a very creative movie. It is very whimsical and bright and takes you on a fun adventure behind the scenes of our dreams!

The plot of this film takes in the concept of modern family issues. When Minna's (Emilie Koppel) life is turned upside down upon the arrival of her new stepmom Helene (Ditte Hansen ) and mean daughter Jenny (Caroline Vedal). Minna is able to find the backstage to her dreams and tries to sabotage Jenny's dreams to stop her from ruining her life. When a dream creation goes wrong, Minna finds herself and her dream worker friend Gaff (Martin Buch) helping to bring back Jenny.

Throughout the animated movie each scene is colorful and bright. The set designs are so whimsical and creative. I love each design and the idea of our dreams. The dreams are created for each person with actors, sets and scripts. There is a whole new world behind the backstage of dreams. The ideas are super fun. My favorite part of the movie is when Minna finds this hidden world. Each character is very unique and has a certain style that makes them different. The storyline is also quite sad because it addresses family issues. The hardship between the two families eventually wears off until they all learn to love each other. There is beautiful background music playing throughout the film. The songs all have a story behind them relating back to the scenes in the movie. The movie did become a bit predictable at times, but it is still original, entertaining and worth watching.

The message is to be careful what you wish for. Minna wants a specific life with just her dad. When others show up, she is unsure and does not take into account the sadness and harm she would bring to her family by messing with others' dreams. You should know that this film includes a sensitive topic of families.

I give DreamBuilders 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 7 to 13. Reviewed by Avery P., KIDS FIRST!

    Dreams and nightmares

For a kids movie this may seem to have quite the scary things inside. But I do think they can handle this. Maybe not those who have Arachnophobia (fear of spiders, the unnatural quite heightened one) - but everyone else should be ok. And the story could actually be from a Pixar movie. I was positively surprised by that to say the least.

The animation of course is not up to that task, but that should not be too much of a bother. I really loved it - not sure how the dubbed versions of this work. I imagine that most will watch this in their native language dubbed - and that probably isn't the original audio track. So I can't really give you any insight on that side of the movie - but the heart of it (the story) is really one that is well thought of! The characters are also very nicely drawn ... even our main character has her flaws. And its nice to see female/girl characters getting their time to shine - without it being too much of a story "thing"!

Works well for kids - so leave them to it

A young girl dealing with the introduction of a new stepmother and sister finds a way to manipulate people via their dreams.

This sounds like a great idea with lots of scope for fantastic dream worlds: a real chance to let ones imagination run wild.

This is not that film. The film is centered around the girls change in family circumstances; the dream world is little more than a mechanic to explore her relationships and is not particularity interesting or detailed. Instead this feels very much like an educational film, I half expected a teacher to appear in front of the animation and say "and that is how we learn sharing."

All the characters are very clearly defined by their roles to the point that they have no personality, only singular flaws to be arbitrated.

Thanks to Pixar many modern cartoons have elements designed to keep adults amused - this does not.

It is nice that a film is targeted directly at children and is something for them, but leaves adults glancing at their phones. Also, I wonder how many children want to spend their Saturday watching a well animated, hour-long episode of Sesame Street. I wouldn't have.

This is well animated and voice acted but lacks the care and attention that the big bucks of Pixar can afford and lacks the wildness of a true indie film.

I suppose this could be helpful if you are in the process of uniting two families together but I think going out for ice-cream or watching Monsters Inc. would be more effective.
