Ignore the armchair critics. Valeria is a Spanish series, so comparing it with series from other countries is pointless. Voting it down because it deals with adultery is to apply ones own moral standards to a tv series.
This is a series following the sexual encounters of four young Spanish women in Madrid. There is plenty of nudity and lots of sexual scenes. There are also many good songs to accompany the plot, and great shots of Madrid.
To me it seems that this was meant to be enjoyed as a light hearted piece of fictional fun. I loved it as such, and I hope there will be another series.

Elements were correct, set in Spain.
Independent women but always talking about only relationships, when will this cliche be over?
Give it a pass if have watched SATC religiously, you will end up comparing
Gave chance the characters to evolve but dint happen till end
Stunning locales and people, BTW!
I had so much fun watching this series with it's fresh, contemporary vibe. I love Lola, her house and her amazing style! I binged the first and now the second season, which I found to be better, in view of characters' and stories' development. I see the low rates being justified by Valeria's flaws and I can't help but wonder, was Carrie Bradshaw likeable? Also, I don't know who promoted it as such, but there's absolutely no need to compare it to SATC, it stands perfectly on it's own.
2023 update: Unfortunately, season 3 was a huge disappointment to me. I had given the series 10 stars, I was that enthusiastic about it! But last season spoiled all the fun. It felt like the writers decided to go against a much anticipated closure, just so the series wouldn't resemble SATC that much. I found the new couples unmatching, uninteresting and lacking that sizzling first season's chemistry. I can't recall any of this season's episodes worthy of rewatching, some of them being unnecessarily time consuming. I had been so looking forward to see Valeria and Victor evolve, mature, help heal each other's insecurities and grow stronger together.

It's fresh, even with all the twists and turns, the drama, if you will, it keeps a rythm that doesn't encourage 'overemotionality' - it doesn't feel like it pulls at your heart strings to 'get you', it just shows life stories. I loved the music and the editing especially - it really gives the series its own unique vibe, which in an era of fast food tv is quite an accomplishment. Some mentioned it is similar to sex in the city, and it is in that the characters are believable, the actors have chemistry with each other, it has a distinct personality and there is an ease to it, a sense of humor that accompanies all the ups and downs of their personal lives. I also enjoyed the fact that it has a certain simplicity to it, without being shallow, and that the (many) sex/love scenes are sensual, real and beautifully filmed.
Right now, I am almost done with Season 2. I doubt my mind will change by the end of the series.
The main character is very obnoxious and I don't understand the need for such a thing, when others are pretty much ok.
Madrid is very nicely presented in a way one would move there right away, because of beautiful architecture, but more importantly because one can be "poor" with huge apartments, designer furniture and constant partying and outings. I watch all these shows because I can't do all those fun things poor people in Madrid can do, so this is very irritating (to me). For the same reason this romance between a very rich guy and poor girl is not possible, and I wonder when will we stop filming such BS? Either film a fairytale or a real life.
I have to say I really liked some real situations women have to face, like cat calling, menstrual blood, sweating... I would love more of that instead of clichés.
Soundtrack was also very nicely chosen.
