One of the best Inde-art movie I ever saw. The story of Noor in the backdrop of old Hindu practices is amazing. The way director weaves the story around a real time law is brilliant.
I was fixated to the screen all the time. The captivating story and performance of seasoned star Neena Gupta and new kids will surely make it to Oscars.

The Last Color - This film by first time director Vikas Khanna totally stumped me. I did not have very high expectations from the film but was proved totally wrong.
The film touches many aspects of our Society which most of us are not comfortable in discussing. But the Director has put it out there in a subtle way with a positive note.
The film talks about the taboo around widows, street children and marginalised communities. The story weaves around these people and how their friendship grows over a period of time. The film is about keeping your promises.
Shot in the ghats of Varanasi, you see the city through a different and beautiful lens.
Neena Gupta's performance is brilliant backed by the child artist.
Overall a must watch for anyone who enjoys meaningful cinema.
Beautifully written and directed and shot, a thought provoking film that tugs at the heartstrings
Director Vikas Khanna in his debut film has already won everyone's heart. Now, can't wait to see what Vikas comes out with his next. First of all highly highly recommending everyone to watch this film. This kind of films should be watched by all.
Cinematographer Subhransu Das captured every frame beautifully. BGM is heart touching. This is the best performance of Neena Gupta I've seen till now. The child actor Aqsa Siddique as 'Chhoti' is just brilliant. Her chemistry with Noor is adorable to watch. Rudrani Chhetri as 'Anarkali' is also very good. This is one of those film that can change your thoughts about various things of society. The movie will stay with you for a long period of time.

He is a Michelin-star chef, a judge on MasterChef, cookbook writer and a humanitarian. He is also a writer and this movie is based on his book by the same name. This is Vikas Khanna's directorial debut. A 60+-year old widow, a 9-year old untouchable girl and a transgender..the movie raises the questions about the retrogression that prevail in the most religious city that has a rich culture and history.. I have not read the book but at times it does seem to deviate from its focus... the fragments and scenes do ooze the essence of the storytelling but still do not seemingly fit well into the frames, there are few repetitive and redundant sequences too... However, commendable and subtle performances by Nina Gupta and Aqsa Siddiqui not only manage to keep it afloat but also help upraise ...it was named for academy award ... a good watch..
