A Christmas Night:1944

Knowing that this project was pulled together with a rag tag group of filmmakers from the desert of Southern Utah and under 10K budget that the director personally put into it. It vied really well with local audiences and was received well by many. And you'd never guess that this was shot in the desert of Southern Utah in a total of 7 days. This movie cannot be compared with other representations of this true account due to not having any type of studio backing behind it. That would be an apples to oranges scenario. At the heart of this film is a group of unknowns, telling story to tell a story.

This movie is a very poor remake of a TV movie called "silent night". This one has no real character development which was so important in the previous one. Also the acting is forced and, often, makes no sense. In the first movie, the tension was real, the characters were fearful of each other. In this one everyone is happy go lucky. Not a care in the world. Which is, of course, impossible given the situation.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Watch the original for an in depth look at how the personalities and backgrounds of each of the characters influence a necessary cooperation for the good of all concerned.
