Our Father's Keeper

The story and quality was well done overall. There were a few words my child picked up on (one use each of ass, hell, and fricken) which went right past me. Some very touching moments (may want to get your tissues). The ending was a little rushed and abbreviated, and feeling incomplete. Yet the overall movie was well done in both quality, direction, and performance. The lead actor did a very good job portraying someone being enveloped in dementia/Alzheimers. Their final Thanksgiving scene together had me in tears as it reminded me of what I experienced with my own grandparent who suffered from Parkinsons. One of the supporting characters also used marijuana.

I loved this movie so much. What a heartfelt movie. Both the acting and plot were great. However, I felt that Shayla McCaffrey, the teenage girl who helped David (The father) was just amazing. She is such a beautiful, bright light. I look forward to watching more things that she is in. She just made me want to give her a big hug. Loved the dad in the movie also.

Sadly the americans do appear to have a bit of a problem creating a proper film which involves "an Angel". Its almost certain that one does appear in this to take care of "dad" when he finds himself outdoors and surrounded by those great americans NONE of whom are capable of spotting someone (even in very cold snowy conditions) with alzheimers! Whilst there is a couple of good performances within the film but it really doesnt quite qualify for a film with a gospel message.

Alzheimer's runs in my family so I am well-versed on what a person with Alzheimer's does, how he behaves, and what he looks like. The presentation of this person with Alzheimer's is way out of line with anything I have ever seen. I stopped watching the movie after he was diagnosed with the disease because I got so turned off with what I was seeing. The writer(s) clearly never met a person who had Alzheimer's.

I don't know what the other woman was going on about in the low review stating that this movie was NOT how they act, well she is WRONG because every person that has alzheimer's acts differently from the other person.

I have a family member that has a bad temper, and has this condition setting in as well as dementia causing confusion. So this movie is very well acted out as it's very close to the real thing.
