Dystopia is new to Indian audience. And dystopian fiction was written for much less in the west. Art needs to keep check on politics when all else is failing. Visuals could have been better. But writing and acting are top notch. Must watch if you happen to possess a mind of your own.
Hindi Web series to see the nearby dystopian future in which we are exposed to the reality Hindu and Muslim cultures, in this they have executed it very much precisely.
I don't know why these right wingers are so afraid from these fiction pieces (same thing happened with Mulk last year) that they run a propaganda against films/shows which show the immediate/possible reality of the world. But these people think these are Anti-Hindus, Guys atleast watch it so many people earn their livings, think practically. And, I have always same question, that how brittle are their sentiments that potentially get hurt by fictional stories.
Now, about the show - Yes it's not perfect as it has pacing issues but it hits all the right notes, from story to screenplay to the acting performances.
Watch it before judging.
Sure, it's inspired by The Handmaid's Tale, but it's also a timely mirror to frightening political scenarios around the world, in which women's reproductive choices are being dictated by patriarchs. Ignore the fanatic criticism in some of the reviews below, which only see this as a "Hindu-bashing" series. It's secondary to the story of many societies that are developing a sort of moral absolutism as a growing backlash to modernity, economic empowerment, and freedom of thought and lifestyle. It's a way for those in our societies who are frightened of what they don't know to retain or assert power over others they see as a threat to their sense of self. Timely, important and culturally relevant to everyone, not just Indians.
The people who rated it low i don't think that they got the point of dystopian future it is a community or society that is undesirable or frightening. And I think in near future there will be peace cause their are so many people who can get easily manipulated on the things like religion or different ideology.
It's not about anti hindu or anti muslim
it's the reality of people who are blinded by the false beliefs of their community.
And about the people who gave bad review they didn't even watch the whole 1st episode on what basis u are judging the series.
Maybe the base story is similar to handmaid's tale.
I gave it 9 cause bollywood can try something new rather then commercial masala.
