    Truer Than It Should Be

For all the naysayers out there, there are plenty of pockets out here - including in the US - that are exactly like this. Don't like it because it portrays men badly? If you're a man, when you see a show like this, don't scream "not all men." Recognize that women live with thing this every day and have some empathy. If only Lilith were real.

A Film that focuses on multiple viewpoints

Into the Dark has delivered us some pretty good entries and some ok ones, but not so many bad ones. "Pure" installment to the series isn't so much a horror film or a thriller; it's a mystery. It's a slow burner like all of the other entries and provides specific elements on several viewpoints on religion, women empowerment, women's rights, control and temptation. I'm a guy of course who found this installment to be the best one next to "Culture Shock". Elements in the film are bits and pieces of the films "Midsommar" and "Carrie". This film is not for the closed minded. Give it a shot and I hope you enjoy it!

    Eh....

What is happening with "Blumhouse" movies? The Blumhouse label used to mean quality, original stories, especially in the horror genre. I am seeing Blumhouse on everything these days and so much of it is medicore, including this. The setting of the film SHOULD be so creepy - it's basically a cult. But it feels so light and breezy. Young teens might like it.

Not bad for watching while you play on your phone.

Actually better than I expected- it's not actually "scary", and the message is a bit heavy handed (though enjoyable enough), but the cast is decent and that probably elevates it a bit. Not a bad way to pass an afternoon, and I'd rate this one better than most of the Into the Dark movies I've seen.

    Timely and entertaining

In celebration of women's day comes Hulu's Into the dark Pure. The movie centers around two young girls that are taken to a misogynistic religious camp to pledge their virginity by their father. Automatically there is a creepy, hunky priest Pastor Seth played by sexy Scott Porter of Hart of Dixie. He speaks brazenly about the sexuality of women and how they belong to men. As the film goes along a group of boys are introduced who try and lure the girls into temptation. But one night while having fun they try and call forth Lillith who doesn't take what's happening to women likely. The movie is timely and important but never preachy. At times it can feel a little clunky and unfocused but ultimately it is a unique little spin on the material although it's a bit goofy.
