This story will teach what is ambition, determination and grit that will never let you down even though circumstances will force you to fall. Nicely directed and beautifully acted by all. Showing the pain of a victim, sadness of a father, kindness of individuals who understand her dreams. Go for it if you want to motivate yourself.
You can really be assured about a well told story when you see Bobby-Sanjay as the screenwriters. After path changing Malayalam scripts like TRAFFIC, Ayalum Njanum Thammil and How Old Are You, it was a no brainer that Uyare will be exceeding expectations on that front.
For me the real revelation of this movie was the director Manu Ashokan. After watching the movie I was pleasantly very surprised to know that he is a debutant. Very very well directed.
It's really about some actors growing as performers in this movie. Parvathy has time and again proven her mettle as a young and matured actor but I saw some intense effort from Asaf Ali whom I always have a soft corner for. But the rising star for me is Tovino. I didn't like him earlier due to his choice of characters but now he is proving me wrong that it was just his way of showing that he can handle a range of roles.
Uyare is a must watch as its a story of social stigma, lost opportunities and how we wrongly perceive that certain things won't happen to us but when they do, we don't know how to handle our dreams that were once shattered.

I was expecting such a good movie in a regional language, but very pleasantly surprised. The editing and story were well blended. For me there was an unexpected twist that brought out a concern I know is a problem in India. The actors were all good--the heroinne, her old boyfriend, her new supporter, her father and even more. The background music was enjoyable--I have become a fan of Shakthisree Gopalan who sang one of the songs. Professional all round.
"Uyire" Malayalam movie
Serious emotional drama, where crying is NOT the option.
Parvathy as an actress, matured through her movies like "Notebook, City of God, Bangalore days, Ennu ninte Moideen, Take off" has taken her stardom, her ability to handle complex characters to a senior level, in this. Hats off. Asif Ali as a male chauvinistic boy-friend, Tovino as an eccentric playboy, Sidhique as her father... all supported Pallavi Ramachandran (Parvathy), well in their own departments. Director and scriptwriters have chosen the difficult plot and fined tuned it, to the taste of the audience.
The movie is about the smart young girl's dream of flying and becoming a pilot, her orthodox boy friend with superior male patriarchal personality, her accident, her resurrection from that like a Phoenix, all leading to the unexpected climax... is the presentation. Camera work is superb to take us through the clouds and above. Background score and songs are apt for the situation and kept with the theme. More than these, the dialogues were woven well, to keep the essence of the emotions, it meant. More than the dialogues, 'the silence' at scenes, spoke in volumes. A scene worth thousand words. Scene where the boy's father come for compromise, the confrontation by Pallavi with a deep silence, is touching... shakes your conscious like a earthquake, 9 on Richter scale.
9 on 10 for this high pitched emotional drama. More than the 'acid attack survivor' story, it's about determination to outlive all hindrances of your 'only' life.
When you want something, the whole world conspires in helping you to achieve it' ... Paulo Coelho, 'The Alchemist"

Uyare is an awesome movie to watch especially, the last few weeks' had a lot of masala films. Parvathy was as usual great and only she can do this role in whole of Malayalam industry . Asif Ali as the possessive obnoxious boyfriend and Tovino Thomas the fun business man were excellent in their roles. The supporting characters like Sidique, Anarkali and the cameo by Samyuktha were brilliant . This is not your regular acid attack movie , rather a movie which can create impact with the message . Way to go team Uyare . Another state award for parvathy on its way .
