Just like all the other reviews say this movie is a typical gender X film. It has gay / lgbt/ abortion / womens body rights blah blah blah. This could have be a GOOD movie about a bunch of strangers coming together (this is what I thought it would be) but instead typical Hollywood disaster with political crap.
One time, I was in an NHS waiting room and to the pass the time I read a lengthy pamphlet about Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It was considerably more exciting than this film.
I'm a storm chaser so I was really eager to see that movie when I first saw the trailer. I can say that everything weather related in that movie was spot on and very realistic.
As for the plot, « cliche » is the best word that comes to my mind to describe it. Too many sub-stories to really make you care about the characters. At first when I saw the trailer, I really thought that the main focus was on weather but it's not. But overall I have to give the passage note.

The essence of this disaster movie is the same as all other. Get the audience emotionally attached to the characters, have a disaster, then pick straws to see who survives. Problem is there have been a few Tornado movies in the last few years, all of which have been equal to or better than this one. The acting is okay, but it's too drawn out and you end up not caring who's pushing up the daisies.
The effects were good---but that was only a few minutes. Too much simpleton soap opera. The large cast of characters that is self-defeating TV quality script..

- GoofsWhen you see Kim's cameraman setting her up with the mic on her blouse, for the live shot, he attaches it to her blouse well above the button that is closed. Then during the shot the blouse magically closes one button up from where it was. Then mic moves down her blouse.
