Ikki illa meint

Watching this at a film festival among 90 films this simply stood out as a beautiful and brilliant short on so many levels. Shot with a grainy look that gives it an intentionally retro look it's an often painful observation of human relationships. What really sets it apart from so many of the other films I watched are the central performances by the two actresses Mariann Hansen and Sissal Drews Hjaltalin (who won best supporting actress at the festival); performances which are equally human and tragic. It's a film that balances drama, comedy and a sometimes wistful longing for what might have been. Bubbling beneath all this is a score that perfectly captures the tone and mood of the film and the characters. It's another of those films that leaves you thinking about it days afterwards and questioning your own life decisions.
