Its a shame American horror story has gotten so bad. Red tide was def the better part of the season (excluding the finale) but the alien one was just awful.
... it's not even bad enough to be offensive in any way. Except maybe the decadence of wasting so much talent on it. There is so much to like here, except that all the technical mastery and stellar perfomances keep up your hopes that it might get better, that it could end well.
And instead you can almost see that moment when Murpy throws up his hands in the air, screaming "bored now!" and just flips over the board, kills everyone and ends the plot with several bullets to the heart. Again. And again.
And thanks to the double feature, we get two corpses of two potentially great stories shoveled into this mass grave, where the series itself has become the true horror story, and... it's not dead yet, is it?

Wow...really, wow. What tf happened? Can't you write a decent story anymore? Zero creativity, the season finale has been as bad as the mid-season finale. We are really light years away from seasons like Murder House or Hotel, what the heck happened to you? This script seems to be written by monkeys, no offense to real monkeys. 1984 was just trash, but this one is as bad as it was. No connection between the first part of Red Tide and the second Death Valley as it was implied in first place instead. Both finales are hideous and nonsensical, just stupid endings. Is there really someone who pays someone to write this garbage? I believed, for a moment, during the "Blue Moon" episode that perhaps there would be hope of recovery in the finale of this disastrous tenth season. Instead, again, only disappointment. I guess you couldn't even write a decent unique themed season, so you ended up writing two half seasons, barely sketched, without refinement, or whatever connection, without the basic means to make a script a real story. Double Feature should be renamed Double Disappointment. Red Tide and Death Valley are both horrible...Sad. Just sad.
Season 10 started well but soon lost it's way and became a mess, with an abrupt ending to part 1. Part 2 was something of nothing.
I have really enjoyed previous seasons which were unique and engaging from start to finish, leaving me in anticipation of what would come in the subsequent season.
However, the writers and producers really need to up their game significantly over season 10, and get back to writing brilliant episodes.

Double feature does not mean double entertainment. This season starts out so well - refreshing plot that you can almost say original, compelling, great acting by everyone especially the kid. We also get treated to the muted blue landscapes of the east coast and the comedic undertones of the d-dock. Episodes 1 to 5 are a winner and deserve nine stars. Unfortunately, "Red Tide" is completely ruined by the rushed and unimaginative ending. It does not do this season any favors. Things only go downhill from there with episode 7, the start of "Death Valley." Good thing there are only 4 episodes of that mess, as each one is a complete waste of time.
