An all-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in development with Colin and Casey Jost penning the script. Deadline reports that Colin, who's best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, has teamed up with his brother Casey to co-write an untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount Pictures. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick, and Galen Walker are producing.

No plot details have been revealed about the new movie at this time, though we can presume it will follow Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello in an all-new adventure. The project is said to be a high priority for Paramount following the news of Seth Rogen executive producing a CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Brothers Casey and Colin Jost are co-writing a brand new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie for Paramount Pictures.

The untitled, live-action movie is separate from the CGI-animated film that Seth Rogen is producing for Paramount and Nickelodeon.

The stars of long-running TruTV series Impractical Jokers have struck a first-look deal with WarnerMedia and had their flagship show renewed for a tenth season.

The Tenderloins comedy troupe, which includes Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn and Sal Vulcano, will develop and produce original unscripted and scripted programming for TNT, TBS and truTV as well as HBO Max.

The renewal of the show comes ahead of the ninth season premiere of Impractical Jokers tonight.

The group are also involved in The Misery Index, which is in its third season at TBS, while they also star in Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party, launched Impractical Jokers: The Movie last year and are making Impractical Jokers: After Party with Joey Fatone.

Such is life with the coronavirus holding up much of the film industry. As fitting this weird year, not much has changed since July when I looked at the best of the first half of the year. Although it still has a long way to go to catch up to Netflix, HBO Max is gradually building a reputation for both an impressive library of content and its own original programming. As well as reportedly working on a number of Batman-focused series, the WarnerMedia streamer is also absorbing shows from DC Universe, and funding the Snyder Cut of Justice League. We now know what’s coming to HBO Max in September, and there’s plenty there for subscribers to sink their teeth into.

Highlights include Ridley Scott’s “Raised by Wolves,” out Sept. 3, which follows two androids raising a human child on a distant planet; “Coastal Elites” starring Bette Midler, Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Levy, Sarah Paulson and Issa Rae, out Sept. 12, and “The Murders at White House Farm,” which is out in Sept. but doesn’t yet have an exact premiere date.

Others without a premiere date coming in Sept. include season one of “Haute Dog,” “Mo Willems: Don’t Let the Pigeon Do Storytime!” and seasons one through three of “The Great Pottery Throw Down.”

WarnerMedia’s grand streaming experiment continues apace with HBO Max’s list of new releases for September 2020.

This month, HBO Max is bring some serious dramatic heat with the Ridley Scott-directed sci-fi series Raised by Wolves arriving on Sept. 3. And if science fiction isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, then HBO Max has identified something that is: true crime. The Murders at White House Farm will arrive at a date to be determined in September.

In addition to those intriguing original offerings, HBO Max is making the best of its WarnerMedia library this month. Doctor Who season 12 makes its long-awaited streaming debut on Sept. 1. Also arriving on the first of the month are Clerks, Election, and the hopefully-not-too-timely V for Vendetta.

Recent horror hit The Invisible Man arrives on Sept. 19. It is complemented by HBO Max original comedy Unpregnant on Sept. 10.

TruTV has renewed comedy series “Tacoma Fd” for a 13-episode third season. The series follows members of a fire department in a city where it often rains, rendering their job somewhat uneventful. To pass the time, the department engages in competitions and rivalries and responds to strange emergency calls. The show’s creators, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, also star as the chief and captain of the department, respectively. The two actors also executive produce “Tacoma Fd” with David Miner and Greg Walter.

The company has ordered a third season of TBS’ The Misery Index and 10 additional episodes of truTV’s remotely shot Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party. Additionally, truTV’s first feature length film Impractical Jokers: The Movie will make its streaming premiere on HBO Max on September 1.

Production is set to resume late this month on season 9 of Impractical Jokers starring The Tenderloins.

The Impractical Jokers crew has much to celebrate. In addition to resuming production on Season 9 later this month, truTV has announced that it has ordered 10 additional episodes of quarantine offshoot Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party, expanding its run to 18 episodes.

What’s more, sister network TBS has renewed The Misery Index for Season 3. The Jameela Jamil-hosted game show, which features Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn and Sal Vulcano — aka The Tenderloins troupe — as panelists, will go back into production this fall. Impractical Jokers is arguably one of the funniest programs currently airing on TV. It takes the traditional hidden camera prank show and turns it on its head, making the prankers themselves the subject of each joke.

Typically this comes at their extreme embarrassment. And when it comes to punishments, Sal often gets the short end of the stick. Well, we’re halfway through one of the strangest movie years we’ve ever had. For someone who sees more than 300 films a year, not having been in a theater since early March is insane. For almost all of us, being stuck in our homes has led to mass amounts of boredom. For those like myself, not being able to go to the movie theater is a huge change from what we’re used to. Luckily, a number of films that came out just before the Coronavirus pandemic broke out have gone quickly to Video On Demand, allowing audiences to still indulge in their offerings. One such title is Impractical Jokers: The Movie, one of my favorite comedies of 2020 so far, and a perfect tonic from all of the world’s stress right now. Film wise, there are few options more determined to put a smile on your face than this one. For those who still don’t know about this team, a quick refresher is in order for you. The Impractical Jokers are Joe Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn (Q for short), and Sal Vulcano.

It had been 17 years since last we saw the action-packed escapades of the Bad Boys Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in director Michael Bay's Bad Boys II, and since then no one truly believed we would ever see them again. Bad Boys for Life had been gestating for a long time, and it has now been revealed that star Will Smith has been pitching ideas for years, with one of them making it into the finished product almost exactly as he had envisioned.

After all, the world has changed and the film world especially has come to a screeching halt. At the same time , a sense of normalcy however possible is always good. With theaters no longer an option for movie releases, digital platforms are quickly becoming the go-to route for new films. After Birds of Prey, Onward, The Invisible Man and other movies led the way, now Impractical Jokers: The Movie is also gearing up for a digital release on April 1st, at a purchase cost of $19.99.

The movie is a continuation of the popular reality show Impractical Jokers, where four friends and members of the comedy troupe The Tenderloins challenge each other to a series of public pranks. As with the show, the movie stars James "Murr" Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn, Joe Gatto, and Sal Vulcano of The Tenderloins, while the film was directed by Chris Henchy. The team posted the following announcement for the release.

TruTV’s surprise winter feature sleeper Impractical Jokers: The Movie will be available on Wednesday, April 1, April Fool’s Day, just five weeks after its theatrical play due to the national shutdown of cinemas during the Covid-19 pandemic. Again no shocker here about the early home release given how all current theatrical releases such as Onward, Sonic the Hedgehog, Invisible Man and more have to take refuge in homes so that they can keep accruing bucks, especially when the entire nation is self quarantined.

The comedy stars James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, Joe Gatto, and Sal Vulvano, aka the comedy troupe The Tenderloins, who play themselves in a fictional story of a humiliating high school mishap from the early ’90s. Paula Abdul, Jaden Smith, and Joey Fatone make cameos in a feature that combines the fictional narrative with real life footage of over-the-top punishments and callbacks to classic moments from the series.

It’s not a big surprise, but there’s further evidence here that streaming and linear viewership are big beneficiaries of the current coronavirus crisis.

HBO has seen gains across all its platforms, according to WarnerMedia. Usage levels for HBO Now since Saturday, March 14, a week after the reality of the crisis became clear and more people began hunkering down at home, have been the highest seen since last summer, with time spent on the platform up over 40% from its four-week average.

Two new releases made noise this box-office weekend while another film rode a nationwide expansion to a place on the top ten as well. The latest Disney/Pixar production, Onward, led the weekend box office with an opening weekend debut of $40 million, easily besting the second-place film by nearly $25 million.

Last week’s number one film, The Invisible Man, dropped to second place this weekend with $15.2 million, giving the horror film a two-week total of $52.7 million. In third place was the weekend’s second new film, the Ben Affleck-led drama The Way Back. The film inspired enough people to see it that it managed to pick up $8.5 million during its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, Sonic the Hedgehog fell from second-place to fourth making $8.0 million. Still, the film has made $140.8 million through four weeks, so the little guy probably doesn’t feel like he’s spinning his wheels too badly at this point.

As is always the case, each and every Sunday you can expect a look at what made the most money in theaters, as well as just how all of the new releases fared. Once again this week, we have a rather small batch of of new releases opening, mainly consisting of Onward and The Way Back, at least in wide release. This weekend, the specialized world showed no signs of public resistance to moviegoing. That so much of the audience is older,and perhaps more wary, is encouraging.

The successes include the opening of the acclaimed “First Cow” (A24), a couple of niche limited openers (“The Booksellers” from Greenwich with the best per-theater number), the successful expansion of “Emma” (Focus), and decent continued results for two offbeat wider and younger-audience titles: “Impractical Jokers” (truTV) and “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” (Funimation).

However, the complete failure of two higher-end titles — “Wendy” (Searchlight) and “Greed” (Sony Pictures Classics) — as they expanded in their second weekends showed audiences are picky and the success rate remains challenging.

Specialized distributors are as concerned about possible theater shutdowns as anyone in the business. At this point, no changes have been made, but sources say this has gone from a day-to-day review to an hour by hour.

Disney-Pixar’s fantasy film “Onward” is dominating North American moviegoing this weekend, opening with $40 million at 4,310 locations, estimates showed on Saturday.

The figure is at the low end of pre-release forecasts, which had pegged “Onward” for a launch in the $40-45 million range. The movie centers on a pair of teenage elf brothers — voiced by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland — on a quest to resurrect their deceased father with a magical staff. Opening day audiences gave “Onward” an A- Cinemascore.

“Onward” is delivering results in the same neighborhood as Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur,” which opened with $39 million in North America and finished its run with $123 million domestically and $332 million in worldwide box office for the lowest total of Pixar’s 21 titles. “Onward” is the first Pixar movie to debut during the March/early spring corridor; all other Pixar titles have been released in the summer or November.

A new film not only led the weekend box office, but it also displaced the former number one film by $13.0 million. The horror film, The Invisible Man debuted over the weekend, earning $29 million. The film seems to be a hit with both critics and audiences and could possibly enjoy a healthy stay in the top ten. But, only time will tell.

With a strong opening weekend, The Invisible Man easily bested second-place finisher, and former first-place film, Sonic the Hedgehog, which only brought in $16 million. Despite finishing in second-place, the film has managed to earn $128.3 million in its first three weeks of release, so it’s doubtful anyone is too upset about the fall from the top spot.

Similarly dropping a spot over the weekend was the Harrison Ford vehicle The Call of the Wild, which added $24.8 million to give the film a two-week total of $45.9 million and a third-place finish on our countdown.

The weekend box office brought both good and bad news. Universal’s “The Invisible Man” exceeded expectations with a $29 million opening, but the overall box-office total fell under $100 million, a rarity between Super Bowl Sunday and Labor Day.

And strangely this weekend, both “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” (Funimation) and “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” (truTV) showed up in the Top Ten.

Meanwhile exhibitors are facing rising concerns about the coronavirus pandemic and its possible impact on public activities like moviegoing ahead. The case for some impact comes from recent declines after a strong start to 2020 that left the totals up 6% after two months. That’s down sharply from initial weeks, and comes with the bonus of the leap year Saturday that accounts for 40% of the higher number. So the bloom is off the rose.

However, results for the first two months are usually not a good guide for a full year’s prospects.

“Emma” (Focus) had a strong initial second weekend expansion, but the top news comes from two unexpected niche releases. The top 10 successes of “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” (Funimation) and the second weekend of “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” (truTV) suggest new paths to theatrical success.

An exclusive date for “Saint Frances” (Oscilloscope) stood out in a weekend that saw poor initial play for “Wendy” (Searchlight) and “Greed” (Sony Pictures Classics) — films with top directors and mediocre or worse reviews.

Where did this come from? This second film from the popular Manga action comic opened on Wednesday from Funimation, a Sony Pictures-related company, with the top gross opening day. But rather than just play like an event as similar films, it continued its run to end up as the surprise #4 film overall this weekend.
