    Captivating and Beautiful Historical Film

I love films about real people and learning about Madame Blavatsky and the formation of the Theosophical society in the late 19th century was truly intriguing and mesmerizing. The actress who played Madame Blavatsky was phenomenal and brought her to life. The topic was so captivating I had to look into this more after the film was over. There were moments where I felt like a fly on a wall getting to see and learn special things that I wouldn't normally be able to know and see. There were quite a bit of scenes of people talking in rooms, so I had to really focus to try to take in what they were saying and at times the intellectual content lost me, while as other times it grabbed me and taught me things. The costumes and sets were next level, just gorgeous, and so true to the time period, I was so impressed with these throughout the entire film. The end of the film gave me chills. I would recommend this film to anyone who likes historical or biopic films.

The Day of the White Lotus

"The Day of the White Lotus" is an independent film about the Theosophical Society in the late 19th century. I give it 8 stars because it's a labor of love by the creators. They did a fantastic job telling the story of Madame Blavatsky. This film shows what happens when artists put their hearts into their work. I hope more people give indie films like this a chance. It's different from mainstream movies and brings fresh ideas. The attention to detail in set design, special effects, and costumes is impressive for an indie film. Kudos to the creators! This film proves that indie movies can offer diverse perspectives and great stories.

    Indie period drama

Congrats to this full feature indie period piece! I was truly impressed with so much of this film, and what they put together. Its incredible what they were able to pull off- the set design/set dressing and costumes were wonderful! This is based off of true events and I highly recommend this film for anyone who is into historical dramas. I also really enjoyed the use of special effects in this one. It truly added to the mystery and intrigue in the story line- well done! It was evident that all the actors were game to play in telling this story- I particularly enjoyed the performance of Sandy Kim.

    Captivating Historical Drama

"The Day of the White Lotus" is a captivating historical drama that intertwines real events with the enigmatic world of mysticism and philosophy. Directed by the duo Lana Antropova and Duane Daniels, this film delves into the life of H. P. Blavatsky and the intriguing Theosophical Society, offering a unique perspective on one of the most controversial organizations of the 19th century.

Truth can indeed be stranger than fiction, and this film exemplifies this adage. Set against the backdrop of the geopolitical tensions of the time, including Britain's desire to maintain control over India, the narrative weaves a complex tapestry of historical and mystical elements. The appearance of historical figures, such as a young Mahatma Gandhi, adds depth and realism to the story.

The directors have done a commendable job in bringing to life the secrets, intrigue, and mysticism that surround the Theosophical Society. The film almost feels like a mystical spy story, where every scene is filled with suspense and wonder. The rich historical context and the profound philosophical dialogues make it a thought-provoking experience.

"The Day of the White Lotus" is not just a historical drama; it is an exploration of the human quest for knowledge and the unknown. This film is a must-watch for anyone interested in history, philosophy, and the mystical elements that often lie hidden beneath the surface of our everyday lives.

Mysticism and Occult in the 1880's

Movie depicts the Theosophical Society of America - an organization committed to exploring mysticism and the occult in the late 1880's. At that time, there were mediums in contact with the deceased/spirits who manifested via ectoplasm, and high society folks attended seances (Edison, Vanderbilt, etc. Were real-life attendees). This movie details trance medium Madame Blavatsky, capably played by Lana Antropova. She is accompanied by 3 colleagues as they tour Europe and finally India, searching for answers to the occult happenings they witness. Good period costumes and sets. Definitely worth watching.
