    Haunting in the Joseon era

Period settings somehow make horror films feel even creepier, and this Korean horror flick is no exception. The atmosphere is strikingly different from Western horror, which makes it all the more unsettling. The opening sequences, with bodies casually hanging from trees and deadly ghostly activity, were some of the creepiest parts for me. The film leans heavily on supernatural elements throughout-almost constantly-but the story's pace noticeably slows after the first half of the film. Fortunately, the Evil Dead-style demon POV shots don't last too long; I didn't mind them, but pairing them with an emergency warning siren felt jarring and out of place for a period setting. Overall, The Wrath is a solid horror film, and if you're a fan of Asian ghost stories, this one is definitely worth watching.

Creepy and suspensful, IMO a movie well worth watching

In my opinion this is woefully undervalued on here at the time I write this and while I can sometimes understand why people would vote a film much lower than i do this time I am at a loss.

The film is wonderfully acted, very creepy and has really well written characters. There are some creepy visuals but its not really a horror in the ju-on category its more about suspense and telling a story about humans and our evils to each other. It felt more realistic in many ways than most horrors because it centered more around those factors.

Very interesting movie, if you read this I hope you will give it a try.

    Average quality period haunting

Rather typical ghost/haunting movie in many respects. Set apart by the period, I guess. Still, some solid effects and scares. Somehow feels less cheesy than many similar American ghost movies would be.

    Beyond expectation!

The Wrath is more than just a typical horror movie. I was very moved by the production of this movie and I really fall in love with the acting of Son Na-eun whom act in the the wrath as her second movie after the miracle. The movie portrays the living in Joseon era very well and in details bringing more realism to the story. Addition to the topic of realism, I found the movie somewhat more realistic than most other horror film that has no origin or so to say no cause of the supernatural activites. Aside from all the superb acting and the great production I find this movie very enjoyable and I would love to rewatch it From my point of view, this movie deserve more positive reviews, this movie has it all. It give me all the emotions curiousity, excitement, sadness, happiness and also the feeling of a rushing adrenaline. Overall 10/10 Everybody should watch this movie. I am very glade that I've had the privilege of watching this amazing movie premiere in Bangkok.

    Review: The Wrath

    Review: The Wrath

The Wrath is a Korean Shudder release about a young woman who is to be a bride in a aristocratic home, and things take a wrong turn. There is evil present. The young lord, Myung-Kyu, decides to bed the woman on her wedding night in a trap for the spirit, but things don't go as planned. We also see a mysterious burn on the young woman's shoulder, which we'll learn more about through the movie.

As expected, The Wrath looks fantastic. Korea has been killing it with film the last 15 years. Really well shot and scored, with some good atmosphere built in to it. It also switches around to a more twitching and fast moving camera at times, and leaves you feeling like "well that's very Evil Dead-ish."

Some of the story got confusing at times, but all in all, this is a slick movie that is well made and fun. I really enjoyed it and will probably give it a second watch sometime soon. Korea: you just keep being you.

    7/10
