'High Cotton' is a song that blended classic country with a fresh sound & brilliantly-written lyrics. The video consists of the band members cruising in a classic convertible down rural roads, jamming & singing the song, interspersed with short clips of the rural Alabama life that they reminisce about. I didn't grow up in Alabama, but I did grow up in a small town on the Canadian Prairies, & I can definitely relate to the sentiment.
It's not a long song - not even three minutes - but it need not be longer; it says what needs to be said, to the people who need to hear it. It reminds grown-ups to be grateful for how lucky they were in their childhood, when life was innocent, carefree, & devoid of self-consciousness.
