After airing on Rte in Ireland last September, all six episodes of the darkly comedic crime drama Obituary made their way over to the Hulu streaming service in November. Now, Variety reports that Obituary season 2 has been given the greenlight and, like its predecessor, is expected to consist of six episodes.
Written by Ray Lawlor (Le Ceangal) and directed by John Hayes (Dublin Murders) and Oonagh Kearney (Vardy vs. Rooney), Obituary has the following synopsis: 24-year-old Elvira Clancy is feeling a little unfulfilled, although she adores her new job writing obituaries, but when her newspaper falls on hard times and her boss cuts her salary, she finds herself being paid per obituary overnight. When she “accidentally” kills a nasty piece of work in the town, she discovers she might have a previously untapped bloodlust!
She relishes using ever more crafty methods to kill off the town’s unpleasant residents while making them look like accidents.

Creep director Christopher Smith will direct episodes of horror comedy series Video Nasty for BBC Three. Here are the first details:
British director Christopher Smith has made an eclectic range of films, from the tube tunnel terror of Creep to the mind bending time loop thriller Triangle, the historical horror of Black Death to the family fun of Get Santa (an opportune moment to point out that Get Santa is a hugely underappreciated British festive movie). He returned to horror with 2020’s The Banishing, and his next film, Spider Island, looks like it will have a similarly irreverent mix of horror and comedy to his 2006 hit Severance.
According to British Comedy Guide, Smith is also set to direct episodes of Video Nasty, a new horror comedy series for BBC Three.
The story is “set in 1985, with the home video revolution in full analogue swing, Video Nasty’s six 30-minute episodes...

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has officially said “thank you and goodnight” after five seasons and, much to the delight of fans, Lenny Bruce did show up one more time before the Prime Video series finale ended. It marked only the second episode of the season that Luke Kirby was in and honestly, he was Ok with that.
When first we saw Lenny Bruce this season, it was at a chance run-in with Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) at the airport. No, the two didn’t officially date after their night together in the season four finale. After Midge fled, Lenny never called, and the encounter was a touch awkward. As Lenny explains, he’s off to San Francisco, Midge wishes him well, and that’s the last we see of him until the finale.
“I’ve always been so happy and thrilled to get to participate in any capacity,” Kirby told TheWrap.

We talked to Felicia Day about her new book, Embrace Your Weird. Here's what we learned from our exclusive interview!
You may like her for her acting as Codex, Kinga, Vi, Tallis, Holly, Poppy, or Charlie, but Felicia Day is perhaps better known as an author, producer, and entrepreneur. Now, with her new book, the creator of The Guild and Geek & Sundry steps into the role of inspirational force of geeky good.
Announced today, Embrace Your Weird: Face Your Fears and Unleash Creativity, is a motivational guide to cultivating creators, and challenging the imagination with exercises – coupled with Day’s own personality, and personal anecdotes drawn from “therapy, self-help, and just plain trial by fire,” as she describes in the press release.
The October 1st release by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, follows Day’s 2015 memoir You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost). According to the publisher,...

“London Kills” is coming home after the BBC picked up the series, which is an original for the U.S. streamer Acorn TV. Much like BBC America’s “Killing Eve,” the series launched outside the U.K. and has been acquired by pubcaster the BBC.
“London Kills” follows an elite team of cops as they investigate murders taking place in the titular English capital. Sharon Small, Hugo Speer, Bailey Patrick, and Tori Allen-Martin star.
The series has launched in North America and elsewhere internationally on British drama skewed streamer Acorn TV, which is moving heavily into original scripted. AMC, a joint venture partner in “Killing Eve” channel BBC America also owns Rlj, the parent company of “London Kills” streamer Acorn TV.

And so the calendar closes on yet another TV year. As critics start to assemble year-end best lists and look forward to what the next 12 months might have in store, there’s still a final flurry of new original programming to sift through before 2018 fades away.
Per usual, these are spread out across broadcast, cable, and subscription services, this time with an extra peppering of original films debuting on TV airtime. With plenty of other options to juggle as 2018 closes, allow this one final collection to cap off the bunch.
(We do this roundup of new shows pretty much every month — if you missed any of those previous picks, here are some notable TV premieres from February, March, April, May, June, July, August, October, November, and our giant fall preview.)

The Turning, a movie update of Henry James’s Turn of the Screw, stars Mackenzie Davis as the governess of two possessed children.
The Turning represents an entertainment industry Renaissance of sorts for the 1898 Henry James-penned gothic ghost story novella, Turn of the Screw, since it’s one of at least two major productions in the pipeline to adapt the classic, genre-defining story. The other offering will manifest as the upcoming second season iteration of Netflix’s horror anthology series, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Interestingly, this particular Turn of the Screw adaptation, a film from director Floria Sigismondi, will brandish the surging star power of Mackenzie Davis, star of Terminator: Dark Fate, and Finn Wolfhard, one of the primary stars of Netflix’s smash hit series, Stranger Things, and the It films, which released its conclusion, It: Chapter Two, this past September.
