The Nest

Had it been a Hollywood film, Kaya would be a psychotic murderer and the plot would have been violent. Instead, there was the power of love and the hope of redemption. The soundtrack should not be ignored. It was lovely and haunting.

It is the way Scots speak. If you were to hear "small girl" or "little girl" ten times in a movie, would you think that a parody.

Small view of the world...

A very interesting and clever plot, great acting and good solid story that until the last half hour of the last episode you didn't quite know how it would play out. Lovely scenery and nice city shots and great to see a proper satisfying ending.

I liked this in spite of myself. The story was incredulous, which would normally ruin such a series, but it's done in such a way that you just kind of go with the flow and enjoy it. All the actors give such stellar performances, you can almost forgive the story being weak. Shame some characters just fizzled out and it wasn't really clear what they added.

I am also slightly biased as Glasgow is now my home, and it is very often wet and grey, yet in this series I think it rained twice and the drone shots of the city landscape were brilliant. It was nice to see it looking dazzling! Also the house the couple lived in by the loch was stunning and it was worth watching just to appreciate that view!

The acting was solid by all the characters. Though Kaya (Mirren Mack) looked a bit too old for the 18yr old part she was playing. This series kept me interested up until episode 4 where it started dragging out and by the time the last episode 5 began, any mystery or twist had been well dealt to and it developed a sloppy soapy feel. So the ending went out with a fizzle. Maybe one episode too long for the material.
