This is how you play with people's mind, we thought this would be a traditional story of zombies and it that would be a saga of stories... i'm glad we were wrong about it.
Here we have an idols anime with a complete twist, we are preented to 2 different worlds: Saga and the group. The group is presented as a dark representation of who they were in life with how their death resulted in life changes for everyone around them and for them as well; this doesn't mean it cannot have a good humor when it needs too. Most of the time there are jokes about their condition of zombies and how to deal with it to not be found, giving good laughs and good horror moments that works very well and even some drama vibes. Being an idols anime also results in good music, specially in the later episodes. All of this things mixed with all characters personality is very charming and leads to an absolute delightfull show.
Remember when i said tha they have good music, they do but in the first half of the story we have the same song over and over and gets a bit repetitive. The other problem is the attitude of their "Manager" wich is a bit hiperactive and sometimes not very compasive with them.
Horror: They got it; Music: Checked; Humor: Yup. Must watch? You bet, give it a try.

This anime is a very good one, because I like horror and the art is extraordinary! And it's go fantastic!
Sakura Minamoto is a high school girl who dreams of becoming an idol... right up until she steps in front of a speeding truck. She wakes in a strange building and discovers that she is surrounded by zombies. She flees and asks a cop for help... he looks at her in terror; it turns out that she too is a zombie! She is then helped by Kotaro Tatsumi, a rather manic individual whose idea to save the city of Saga is to raise various girls from the dead to create an all zombie idol group! Sakura gets to know the other girls and they start to perform; all the time trying to hide the fact that they are zombies from the public... something not easy when their heads occasionally fall off.
This series is without a doubt one of the highlights of the season. The premise may be totally bonkers but it really works. Of course these aren't conventional zombies; only one of them, the hilarious Tae Yamada, doesn't regain her consciousness; and apart from Sakura they all remember their pasts. Their characters are nicely varied and the fact that they were raised from the dead means they can come from different time periods in some cases. Their designs are impressive; they only look like normal girls when made up to go out in public. The comedy elements really work with plenty of laugh out loud moments in every episode. Overall I'd definitely recommend this series even if you don't usually like idol shows or zombies.

The first few episodes of this were phenomenal. The first minute or so of the first episode was one of the best in any anime I've ever seen, and the rap battle in the second episode (I think) was EXTREMELY COOL! It did everything right, and it was an amazing fresh take on the idol genre! I was thinking I might be able to give this a 10, but then later on in the first season it devolves into just a really good idol show, with the zombie part as more of an afterthought. Still, I love all the characters (especially tae-Chan and the manager, I know he seems kind of annoying but I love him), the music is banging, the visuals, while not the best of all time, give the show a really fun aesthetic, the drama feels real, and the interactions are great. The part of the second season I've seen so far picks up the slight bit of slack of the first, and it's really awesome too! The tae-Chan episode had me absolutely rolling around in laughter! Overall, so far this show is a fresh, unique take on the idol genre, and I cannot recommend it enough. The only other idol anime I've seen is love live and the shows connected to that, and this is definitely better than that.
A lot of idol anime end up being the same or similar type of show with predictable content. Zombieland saga is not like that, it's new and interesting with great characters and absurd comedy. It's fun.
