Was not intending to watch an anime from the "Idol" genre but have zero regrets and would recommend it highly.
ZLS starts in a surprisingly unique way and with that twist right from the start it breaths new life into a bunch of cliche character archetypes, the whole "concept"'of the idols, and sets the stage (no pun intended) for a surprisingly good anime.
Weave in some good character development, foreshadowed/anticipated (but well done) plot "twists" and before you know it the the first seasons ends with a resolved story arc, a hook for the next season and a strong desired to see more.
Review based off the English Dub'ed version.

This anime is a very good one, because I like horror and the art is extraordinary! And it's go fantastic!
The first few episodes of this were phenomenal. The first minute or so of the first episode was one of the best in any anime I've ever seen, and the rap battle in the second episode (I think) was EXTREMELY COOL! It did everything right, and it was an amazing fresh take on the idol genre! I was thinking I might be able to give this a 10, but then later on in the first season it devolves into just a really good idol show, with the zombie part as more of an afterthought. Still, I love all the characters (especially tae-Chan and the manager, I know he seems kind of annoying but I love him), the music is banging, the visuals, while not the best of all time, give the show a really fun aesthetic, the drama feels real, and the interactions are great. The part of the second season I've seen so far picks up the slight bit of slack of the first, and it's really awesome too! The tae-Chan episode had me absolutely rolling around in laughter! Overall, so far this show is a fresh, unique take on the idol genre, and I cannot recommend it enough. The only other idol anime I've seen is love live and the shows connected to that, and this is definitely better than that.
I don't care and don't want to get into the idol anime genre one bit but this one idol anime named "Zombieland Saga" caught my attention real fast by it wacky premise and now after episode 3 it already earn a spot on my top 10 must watch of 2018 despite being an idol anime right from the get-go.What make it truly unique and funny is the idol group dub Franchuchou (ep2) already dead for a long time and just recently brought back to life in a mysterious way under a crazy but epic Koutarou Tatsumi.Watch it and you will find out how zombie girl bonding with each other can be so flipping hilarious and also long live THE LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE
Written as of EP 4.
This is one of those anime you get shown by a friend or randomly find on a video site. Is it absurd, crazy and a bit WTF? Yes. Is it trying to be revolutionary, no, but it doesn't need too. This is like the FLCL of idol anime. Silly, hilarious, a riff on idol anime. What more do you want? It's Zombieland Saga for christ sake. You get what you expect and what you get is absurd gold.
