I had the impression an OK movie was taking place in the background but I couldn't follow the dialogue or story because of the loud and intrusive noise of the music, I finally gave up about 20 minutes before the end.
I dont get all the negatives about the cast the chef was excellent, the grandfather was excellent, the rest were passable not great but did the job. The grandfather and the chef were suppose to shine and they did. Creative story actually I liked it the editing took out important parts of the plot but I pieced it together enough for a solid 6. Would have easily been an 8 but the loud overbearing soundtrack hurt this film. Also i liked the spooky mansion.
Don't know why IMDb rating is so low nor why are people leaving negative reviews. It was a different concept with non-linear storyline but it wasn't hard to keep up with at all. I guess most people want simplicity.
Character arcs are great. Cast is great. Plot twists are unexpected. The entire film is very different from usual horror films of this sub-genre.
It's atmospheric and cinematography is good. There is adjusting period to non linear plot but you catch up very quickly after the first 20-25mins.
Kills are gory and satisfying, ending is pure emotion.
7.5/10, would watch again.

Broil had been marinating in my watchlist for months. I finally decided to give it a try. Bad choice.. I'm surprised I actually finished this film. It was boring and unentertaining.
Jonathan Lipnicki held is own, but the rest of the cast was pretty stale. Nothing really happens throughout the film. Just a bunch of corky dialogue and strange music. Nothing I'd recommend. 4 stars
The movie is alright, didn't enjoy the out of order scenes, you didn't need them that way to enjoy the movie, just made it more tedious.
The family drama and back and forth backstabbing was interesting. Could have gotten more elaborated but eh.
Now, the unforgiving aspect of the movie is the LOUD music. I watched this to chill with a migraine, and just made it worse. If you lower the sound to not be murdered by the loud music you won't hear the characters at all, you barely even hear some sentences. Why the loud music seriously? It's so annoying and ruins your scenes.
