This is a French Canadian animated movie adapted from The Dog who Stopped the War. The kids in a small village are split into teams over an annual sled race. Frankie-Four-Eyes designs his sled for his ragtag team. His friend finds a cute puppy. Zac is the arrogant newcomer with his beautiful cousin Charlie as his driver.
Cyndi Lauper has a song. I do know Simple Plan, but that's it. The other singers are mostly French Canadians and I don't know them. It's a very simple story. I thought the dog would be more important. I would probably combine the the Frankie kid with the other main kid. The animation is more or less TV level. I would like more style than that. All in all, this is mostly fine.

Very cute, very familiar and looks like another animation about running in the snow, which I don't remember the name of (I thought, Cleo - Snowtime!, 2015), but equally cute, this animations with little kids make my heart warm... , Coca-Cola advertising style...
This movie has amazing visuals but the scrip and the message miss the mark by a mile, or a kilometer!!! You can tell that this movie was not made for people with common sence! Mid movie everyone knows and admits that one boy cheated and nobody has any problem with the fact he is allowed to hold the title of winner. Where I grew up, and the town that raised me, we now that anyone who cheats is a looser and no person with a clear honest mind would ever see a cheater as a winner of anything. Yet the story pushes the idea that the other team must use their brains to beat this kid yet nobody has the brains to see that cheating only wins you the title of disqualification!!!!! Entire movie is moot and very frustrating to watch. Even little kids know that a real winner never cheats! BAD MESSAGE!!!!!!
This movie relies on many music montages that slow the pace down. The humor is juvenile in nature (fart jokes) and not written comedy. The story is full of setbacks for the main character, Frankie-Four-Eyes, so there is little compassion for him, making it hard to root for his success. At one point my five-year-old said, "This movie is sad, can we turn it off?" There is a "big, dumb, kid" character named Chuck that continously gets taken advantage of by a girl he thinks is cute which is awkward at times.
Overall, my kids enjoyed the movie but I don't think they'll be asking to watch it again because it wasn't anything memorable.
On a side note, an early scene is nothing but kids sleeping and farting, followed by a wake-up scene where a character finds a dog and makes an odd statement about he knew he wasn't dreaming. It would have been better, in my opinion, to see the dream verses the sleeping/fart scene.

I loved this film! The animation is beautiful, the characters are clever and the theme "brains wins over liars" is timely. It is a film enjoyed by children, their parents and grandparents. It is unfortunate that local theatres are not keeping it around for the Christmas holidays as a family activity. Given that it is a Quebec/Canadian film, it holds an important message for our friends to the south of us. I hope that the film gets American distribution. Go see it, the whole family will enjoy this "feel good" animated film.
