    Weird

This movie had some strange elements in it. Harry Potter's mom plays a bad guy. What was the meaning of the white chunks falling from the sky in the penultimate scene? I could go on and on.

    Low production value too

I agree with many of the other reviews, but what I found surprising was the particularly low production quality even for this type of movie. Wardrobe was terrible several times, particularly for Blair -- I agree that the blue ball gown was unforgivable in fit and mock skin color, just distractingly awful. The sound was consistently really, really bad. The lighting was not great most of the time and poorly done in a few spots. The filming was shaky and pretty terrible at times. There's one point that snow was added to bushes in postproduction and it looks like CGI from decades ago. I agree that the foam snow at the end was just atrocious.

I mean, they even failed at making Glamis Castle look good, particularly the interiors. And that's the only reason I'd kept watching.

With a few tweaks, this could have been on par with movies of its kind. I'm just baffled at how they could reach this low bar for production.

Scotland and Glamis Castle are beautiful but the script is terrible

Not even reputable actors like Nicholas Farrell can save a really bad script. Dan Jeannotte is ok, Brooke Burfitt is terrible with her bad American accent. The script must have been written over a party weekend using a formulaic story. There are other things to watch.

    Bad. Very bad.

People are complaining about the English accents but that's actually pretty accurate because the aristocracy don't speak with a Scottish accent, that's for the peasants. So, apart from that just a few things: 1. A stupid, stupid story 2. Who did their makeup? I swear they shot this in one day because Blaire's makeup never changes and looks like the makeup she arrived in to the shoot.

    3. Who did their hair? Please invest in some leave in moisturiser. Why did Blaire's boss have hair on day 2 that looked like she'd just pulled herself up from sleeping under the desk?

    4. Who did the lighting? There are YouTube channels with better production values.

    5. What was with the long chocolate shop promo in the middle?

    6. Why did the lead actress hold her body and head at such unnatural angles so often?

    7. Why did the director let her say everything with that snarky twinge of sarcasm? Why in god's name would that guy fall in love with this?

    8. And Alistair is not the Earl, his father is the Earl. He will not be Earl until his father dies.

    9. And for what reason does the housekeeper care about Blaire? Was the housekeeper pranking Blaire when she gave her that ex-rental blue dress? It didn't fit her and the nude coloured material was a different colour from her skin.

I think we all hung in there to see Scotland and they needed much, much more Scotland to make this worth it.

Renamed it 'Christmas in the Castle' and showed it as a 2020 movie.

One of the worst, for sure. The Scottish accents were abysmal. Not really a Christmas movie. Find something else.
