The movie could have been better, well in many and indeed many areas.
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, sounds good pair, well they were certainly looking good on screen, there were sort of some moments, some chemistry, but throughout the movie you will be the special element being missed.
First half of the movie, not making much sense, not making any rhyme and you start to feel the boring element rising. Second part, better and interesting, anyone can guess the ending and the entire plot by then. Movie was with a message of being with the family and differences can be resolve, but not given in a much effective way.
All in all, it is a one time watch, nothing extra to expect.
P. S.
Only one song was good, rest, too boring.

I am giving 4 stars because of the songs, ranbir-shradda pair on screen, few one liners in second half, and the climax scene. Luv Runjan surprsingly dissapointed with poor screenplay, poor dialogues and poor script writing.
They had superb casting but could not do character building or make optimum utilisation of the actors. The first 35-40 minutes you will see overacting from all the actors with baseless script and makes the plot very predictible.
There is a scene in the first half where Bassi literally with folded hands tells about Ranbir "Isko koi Chup Karau". All in the theater strongly felt with Bassi said.
I strongly felt to leave in the first half. The monologues by Kartik in previous movies were much better as compared to short monologues by Ranbir.
All in all you can watch on OTT platform, do NOT deserve to be seen in theater near you.

A good movie which shows that todays world, the daughters in laws want their own freedom whereas the inlaws are controlling. Today women are independent, have freedom to choose but due to generation gap there seems to exist the expectations that the daughter in law complies to the functioning of the in-laws house.
This movie however shows that some families do have an environment where there is love without a tinge of control and have freedom to be the way someone is.
Great concept by Luv Ranjan and good surprise guest appearances by Kartik and Nushrratt.
Overall great movie!! Ranbir is hot and Shraddha plays a perfect girl!

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar is two films in one, promoted as a third completely different one altogether. You walk in expecting a typical Luv Ranjan film with the twist of both of its lead characters being anti-heroes but get confronted by a Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi-esque love story coupled with family drama.
The film shines the brightest during its comedy scenes (the FRIENDS finale inspired family banter in the car is the highlight of the film). The meta jokes land well. Bassi delivers one-liners like he did when he was at his peak as a standup comedian and while his own subplot in the film makes no sense, he chews whatever bite he's given well. The child actor, Inayat Verma, is the definition of chhota packet bada dhamaka. She plays her character with such ease and brilliance and hits both the punchlines and the slapstick comedy with such perfection, I became a fan. The supporting cast in general is fantastic. Shraddha, as always, looks gorgeous in the film and performs fairly until her shortcomings in the acting department get highlighted in scenes where she has to deliver purely through her expressions. This isn't anywhere close to Ranbir's best performance, in fact he puts his acting skills on the backburner, but apart from some scenes where he unnaturally breaks the fourth wall due to the director's insistence, he does fit in well.
The film, however, tests your patience in emotional scenes in the second half, completely losing both its tonality and crowd pull. Attempts at using songs to pick up pace and audience interest fall flat in the last hour. The film picked up a pretty relevant topic in the second half but chose a convenient way out of it. I would've preferred the realistic ending they were going for until the U-turn that they took in the last 30 minutes but that wouldn't have had the commercial appeal that is needed to carry Bollywood films to the Hit verdict these days. The background score of the film is fantastic and it does have some catchy chartbusters too but it has one too many songs for its own good. The direction is pretty mediocre as is the writing but I walked in leaving my brain in the fridge at home so I was able to look past that.
Overall, the film is a decent one-time watch constructed calculatively to make it flow with the masses and even if you aren't one of them you could enjoy it for its comedy.

Finally a Luv Ranjan movie without women-bashing.
I'm a fan of insta-love when done right, but this one wasn't it, chief. It seemed like an infatuation more than actual love. The chemistry was also lacking. The premise was okay & the movie had a lot of plot holes, but the movie is aware of at least some of them. Without giving away any spoilers, one of the major illogical aspects was like when Superman wore glasses, and no one was able to recognise him.
Ranbir did a good job as usual, Shraddha's acting paled in comparison. The cgi de-aging effect done on them was a bit awkward tho, making it hard to see the micro-expressions Ranbir usually uses to portray his emotions. Their skin looked one-toned. The supporting cast did a splendid job as the lovable family. Bassi was also great as the friend.
