Warner Bros. has shared thirteen new character posters from Ryan Coogler's Sinners, offering a fresh new look at the devlish heroes and villains set to feature in the upcoming horror thriller.
While not much is yet known about the plot, save for the fact that Michael B. Jordan will be forced to square off with vampires, including his recently turned twin brother, which should only up the ante as he and a small group of survivors attempt to make it to daybreak.
When asked about his latest film, Coogler teased, “Sinners is a unique one. It’s genre fluid. There are vampires in the film, but it’s really about a lot more than just that. It’s one of many elements, I’ll say. I think we’re going to surprise people with it.”

Gersh is shopping the startup outfit’s first pair of action vehicles, both fully shot and nearly finished, to international buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market this week.
Since exploding onto the scene in the early 2010s with his fully formed silat martial arts mastery, Uwais has gone on to appear in productions across the world, including Snake Eyes, Stuber, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the Netflix series Wu Assassins, for which he also served as lead fight choreographer and executive producer.

Now, you don’t need to imagine it, because that’s exactly what happened to Katheryn Winnick. The woman who would later portray Lagertha, the fierce shieldmaiden of Vikings, had a rather bumpy start to her career.

There are many modern martial arts actors that have yet to go head-to-head in any films, but that has not stopped fans from dreaming about what these matchups might be like. From major names like Donnie Yen and Keanu Reeves to rising actors, martial arts films with incredible action and storylines are also known for their stars and what they bring to the table. Marrying this visceral action and incredible fight scenes with character development is important, which is why having lead stars who can convey both of those aspects is crucial.
These performances are not relayed solely to film, however. There are plenty of martial arts television series with great performances as well, showing the wide variety of content that fans have been served in recent years with shows such as Wu Assassins and Cobra Kai. After a few acclaimed TV shows have ended their run, their stories have continued in the form of a TV movie. Considering the popularity of some TV shows, a sequel series or film makes sense as audiences are eager for more content regarding their favorite characters. Most of the time, sequel films aren't entirely necessary and are put out with the simple purpose of fulfilling fans' needs. In the case of Mr. Monk's Last Case, the character returned to TV screens, streaming on Peacock, as current events inspired an exploration as to how the detective with multiple phobias would live during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, some sequel films were made to wrap up open-ended storylines. Films inspired by Breaking Bad and Alf answered some lingering questions regarding Jesse Pinkman and Alf's fate. Though they're not always needed, these TV films based on TV shows are still largely...

Martial arts have been popular in big, theatrical action films for years now, but similar fighting styles have been embraced in TV shows, with some of the best examples coming from the last decade. The 1970s brought an increased interest in martial arts stories following the "kung fu wave" of Hong Kong cinema. Martial artists and actors like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan were major influences, introducing Chinese martial arts to Western audiences.
Their influence can still be seen in the past decade's best martial arts shows, like Warrior and Into the Badlands. What makes the best martial arts shows stand out is the ability of their action scenes to complement the narrative. This can be seen in TV shows where the characters are training in martial arts, such as Cobra Kai or Wu Assassins. Other shows, like Daredevil, use martial arts as a means to elevate the fight scenes.

Throughout their messy and prolonged courtship, "Bones" couple Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) played their fair share of romantic musical chairs. They both tested the waters of a workplace relationship fairly early on in the show's run, with Brennan hopping into bed with Booth's FBI colleague Tim "Sully" Sullivan (Eddie McClintock) -- and causing a bit of a ruckus among Fox's censors -- in season 2. This was around the same time that Booth restarted his own amorous association with the then-newly-appointed boss of the Jeffersonian Institute's forensic division, Camille "Cam" Saroyan (Tamara Taylor).

A sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie from 2021 is on the way, and The Wrap reports tonight that Karl Urban (“The Boys”) is in final talks to join the cast as Johnny Cage.
The Wrap reminds, “Johnny Cage was introduced in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Johnny Cage is depicted as an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background. He is often characterized as a swashbuckling, Hollywood fighting movie star who places great importance on his image and consistently behaves in a cool manner.”
The star of Amazon’s hit series “The Boys,” Karl Urban turns 50 years old next month, so this particular take on the classic Mortal Kombat character is sure to be different than expected. Many fans had been lobbying for WWE superstar The Miz to play Cage in the upcoming sequel, but Urban’s casting will bring a whole new facet to the character.

Undisputed 5 could bring aboard many great martial arts stars for Yuri Boyka's return to the ring. The Undisputed franchise first introduced Yuri Boyka (Scott Adkins) in Isaac Florentine's Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing, with the highly formidable Mma fighter Boyka determined to prove himself worthy of the title of The Most Complete Fighter in the World. Though he was introduced as the antagonist of Undisputed 2, Boyka quickly became the Undisputed franchise's central character, returning as the protagonist of Undisputed 3: Redemption and Boyka: Undisputed.
Though Scott Adkins says there is a script for Undisputed 5, the next chapter of the Undisputed series has not yet gotten off the ground. Naturally, in a martial arts franchise like the Undisputed movies, a cast of great martial artists is a must. While Undisputed 5 bringing back Michael Jai White, Marko Zaror, and other past stars of the series would be a fantastic concept,...

Continuing the eye-candy, Hollywood-like with an Asian flavor martial arts aesthetic, the sequel to “Wu Assassins” begins where its predecessor left off, adding even more to the aforementioned elements.

There, biotech billionaire, super-powered William Pan approaches them by taking the place of a number of club visitors the two first have visited in their search. This article contains Fistful of Vengeance spoilers.
“Like the Avengers…but Asian.”
When Tommy (Lawrence Kao) quips this line in a Fistful of Vengeance, it’s almost meta. Fistful of Vengeance is the feature film sequel to Netflix’s 2019 10-episode martial arts driven series Wu Assassins. It is produced in the same spirit as Fox’s Firefly and Serenity or Netflix’s own Sense8 by the Wachowskis (which also had a lot of martial arts.)
Beyond Tommy, two other Wu Assassins leads reappear in Fistful of Vengeance. Indonesian martial arts superstar Iko Uwais reprises his role as Kai Jin, the San Francisco Chinatown chef and last incarnation of the Wu Assassin, an eternal superhero warrior out to save the world. Also there’s Lu (Lewis Tan), a mere mortal like Tommy but with ridiculous Kung Fu skills. Wu Assassins was a martial arts driven show, reminiscent of AMC’s Into the Badlands,...

For Variety‘s Writers on Writers, John Wirth pens a tribute to “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” (screenplay by Abe Sylvia; based on the documentary by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato).
Abe Sylvia has written a script about two hapless bible students who create with nothing more than a hymn, a bible and a puppet their wildly successful televangelist empire. It’s no small miracle that he’s accomplished this without commenting on the immoral hellscape the story stands upon. Not only has he succeeded in making Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker empathetic and lively screen characters, he’s written a star turn for Jessica Chastain, who so zealously embodies Tammy Faye she’s likely to win an Oscar.
Her brilliant performance is very nearly matched by the sniveling, self-eating one brought to the film by Andrew Garfield as the (ultimately) defrocked Jim Bakker. Cherry Jones appears as the stark and repressed Rachel,...

To become a leading martial arts movie star, you must fight your way to the top. And Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan has paid his dues. He’s a second-generation Hollywood martial artist, with his father Philip Tan being a British Taekwondo champion who’s been acting and working in stunts since the 1980s, eventually rising to be a distinguished action director in his own right. It gave Lewis an early start.
He was only three when he appeared in his first film, China Cry: A True Story. He grew up in the business. His father set him on the martial path too, teaching him how to fight at an early age. Outside of acting, Tan competed as an amateur fighter in Muay Thai and trained in Kung Fu, Jiu-Jitsu, and Japanese sword. Due to his lifelong dedication to the martial arts, he insists on doing his own fights and stunts,...
