Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and two major stars join Amazon's new comedy, Close Personal Friends. The actress burst onto the scene in 2015 with Room, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, though she is best known for playing Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, debuting in Captain Marvel and reprising the role for Avengers: Endgame and The Marvels.

On the other hand, Quaid is best known as Hughie Campbell in Amazon Prime's satirical superhero series The Boys. He has also made the jump to movies, playing roles in Scream (2022) and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, and has since taken on starring roles in the sci-fi thriller Companion and action comedy Novocaine (both 2025). Now, the two stars are teaming up for a new comedy.

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, Lily Collins, and Henry Golding will star in their new comedy, Close Personal Friends.

Amazon MGM has locked in MCU star Brie Larson for its upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends. Along with her, we’d also get to see some other high-profile names like Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Goulding in leading roles. While major plot details have been kept under wraps, according to THR, the story will follow one couple who, while vacationing in Santa Barbara, strike up a friendship with a celebrity couple.

Moreover, here we’d also get to see boundaries being crossed, unexpected situations unfolding, and plenty of awkwardly funny moments. The shooting is said to begin in September and will take place in London. With such a star-studded cast, Amazon MGM appears to be aiming for another major hit.

Prime Video just dropped the first two episodes of the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty and there’s one particular storyline that feels a bit too familiar.

At the end of episode one, titled “Last Season,” Belly (Lola Tung) learns that Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) had sex with another girl, Lacie Barone (Lily Donoghue), during a spring break trip to Cabo, as they had a fight before the trip and he thought they had broken up.

“It happened when we were on a break…when we were broken up,” Jeremiah explains to an angry Belly after she finds out at a frat party. Belly yells back, “You knew that we weren’t really broken up, that that wasn’t real.”

“How was I supposed to know that? It was real for me,” Jeremiah claims before Belly responds, “Well, if I knew it, then you should have known it.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has revealed how excited Christmas guest star Nicola Coughlan was about joining the show. Coughlan appears as a special guest in Doctor Who's 2024 festive special "Joy to the World."

The Bridgerton actress reunites with Barbie co-star Ncuti Gatwa in Doctor Who’s upcoming seasonal episode, which sees The Fifteenth Doctor and his new friend Joy (Coughlan) teaming up to stop the nefarious Villengard Corporation’s time travel plot. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Davies confirmed that Coughlan’s busy film and TV career weren’t an obstacle in getting her to join Doctor Who. “She was free and she loved it! She’s an old friend of Ncuti’s. I kind of knew her to say hello to and, to be honest, she bit our hands off,” the showrunner joked.

Constructing the world for a Netflix Christmas special with the vibe of an “old school holiday variety” program fitting for a modern pop queen is no easy task. Jason Sherwood was sure he was the right person to take on the challenge.

Sherwood first heard Sabrina Carpenter was planning to do a holiday variety special in July, just weeks before it was set to shoot in August, as he recalls it. “It was a four-week thing. It was a total blitz,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter on a Zoom.

The designer says as soon as he heard the concept for the singer’s special, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, it was clear that he was a “natural fit” for the project as his background includes theater, music and TV. Sherwood notes that he understood what the singer’s vision for the special was quickly.
