Image
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is finally back for its third and final season, and, just like seasons past, is delivering a strong soundtrack with plenty of Taylor Swift.

The first Swift song to play in the series is “Midnights” vault track “You’re Losing Me,” which plays during an especially pivotal moment for Lola Tung’s Belly in the Season 3 premiere, and we’re expecting even more to keep coming throughout the season.

Chappell Roan’s hits make not one but two appearances in the first two episodes of Season 3 with both “Hot To Go!” and “Good Luck, Babe,” and when things turn sour with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), the...

I'll always be Team Belly after The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 premiere
Image
We're back in Jenny Han's universe after two years, and it's magical. Belly and Jeremiah are at Finch, while Conrad has been away at Stanford. Years have passed since Conrad let Belly go, and she fell in love with Jeremiah. Yet as Conrad works on his healing, Belly continues to ignore her lingering feelings.

I've been Team Conrad since I read The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy as a teenager, but as an adult, I'm realizing I should be rooting for healing and happiness instead of Jellyfish and Bonrad.

The season 3 premiere solidified my Team Conrad stance while also making it clear that Belly needs healing before choosing a brother. Even though they're young, they're moving towards their forever person. Belly knows one choice can shape her future. So why would she marry someone after such a betrayal?

Belly (Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), Conrad (Christopher Briney), Steven (Sean Kaufman...

Move Over ‘Friends,’ ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Has Delivered the New “We Were on a Break”
Image
Prime Video just dropped the first two episodes of the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty and there’s one particular storyline that feels a bit too familiar.

At the end of episode one, titled “Last Season,” Belly (Lola Tung) learns that Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) had sex with another girl, Lacie Barone (Lily Donoghue), during a spring break trip to Cabo, as they had a fight before the trip and he thought they had broken up.

“It happened when we were on a break…when we were broken up,” Jeremiah explains to an angry Belly after she finds out at a frat party. Belly yells back, “You knew that we weren’t really broken up, that that wasn’t real.”

“How was I supposed to know that? It was real for me,” Jeremiah claims before Belly responds, “Well, if I knew it, then you should have known it.

James Bond contender Henry Golding has offered a candid take on playing 007. The actor has often been mentioned as a leading candidate to succeed Daniel Craig as the MI6 spy.

Joe spinoff Snake Eyes. In a recent interview with People, Golding had mixed feelings aboutpotentially playing 007.

"I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare," Golding confessed. "But at the same time, [you're] also wanting to kind of add something new to a franchise."

The Old Guard 2 actor suggested he might feel more comfortable if Bond producers sought him out to play one of the other MI6 agents in the same cinematic universe.

What Happened To The Cast Of Game Of Thrones?
Image
It's been a while since "Game of Thrones" finished its divisive final season, and even longer since the on-screen deaths of some of the show's most beloved characters. While the HBO franchise has continued with "House of the Dragon," a prequel series exploring the Targaryen dynasty, many of the show's stars have scattered across the worlds of film and TV, and even beyond.

While some "Game of Thrones" alumni have made notable appearances in some of the biggest movies and TV shows of the past few years, others have done a lot less mainstream work in the years since the finale aired. For some, "Game of Thrones" may have just been the start of their careers, whilst others merely added the show to a long and storied filmography. There are even some supporting characters on "Game of Thrones" who had their turns as leading men and women in their most recent projects.

When Emilia Clarke Turned Down Fifty Shades of Grey: “No Way Am I Going to Voluntarily Walk Into That Situation”
Image
Emilia Clarke Fifty Shades Rejection (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Back when Game of Thrones was at its peak, Emilia Clarke was proffered the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey. And guess what? She seriously considered it. Sam Taylor-Johnson, the director, had a vision Clarke esteemed. However, the actress eventually refused the role. Her reasoning? She didn’t want to be typecast.

Clarke wasn’t against the idea of Fifty Shades. In fact, she thought Taylor-Johnson was brilliant. “Sam is a magician,” Em once said. But while she admired the director, she wasn’t about to sign up for another role that revolved around s*x and nudity. “And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character,” Clarke explained on The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress roundtable.

'Love Actually' Director Addresses People Finding Cue Card Scene Stalkerish
Image
Believe it or not, Love Actually’s writer and director, Richard Curtis, was completely oblivious to the fact that some viewers found Mark’s (Andrew Lincoln) obsession with Juliet (Keira Knightley) uncomfortable — a strange climax which ultimately resulted in an eerie stalker scene folded into an otherwise heartwarming movie. Today, the classic 2003 Christmas film remains a holiday favorite for many fans, but that particular love story in Curtis’ anthology stands out for all the wrong reasons.

Curtis admits that he did think the relationship between Mark and Juliet was “weird,” but he never really contemplated how creepy Mark’s infatuation with his best friend’s (Chiwetel Ejiofor) wife would come across on-screen. The iconic rom-com writer and director addressed the controversial issue while promoting his latest movie, Last Christmas. Curtis said (per IndieWire):

“He actually turns up to his best friend’s house to say to his best friend’s wife,...

The Golden Bachelorette: "Last Christmas!": Joan & Chock's Lives Are So Different This Year (Their First Christmas Might Make Them Long For The Past)
Image
The Golden Bachelorette stars Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are engaged, and as they enjoy their first Christmas together, they probably get pulled back into the past. At their ages, they've lived a lot of life, and special occasions could trigger them, reminding both of them of all they've lost. While the two seem very compatible, they each had very long-lasting relationships. Sadly, Joan and Chock lost their partners to cancer. During the holidays, the new duo, who are planning to live in three different places, must find it hard to deal with all of their memories.

In particular, Joan may be sensitive. In Wham's hit song, "Last Christmas," George Michael sings,

Last Christmas I gave you my heart/the very next day you gave it away.

However, Joan's late husband, John Vassos, never betrayed her. He passed away four years ago, which broke her heart. At Thanksgiving, she was emotional,...

'She Bit Our Hands Off': Doctor Who Boss Reveals Bridgerton Star’s Excitement to Join Christmas Special
Image
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has revealed how excited Christmas guest star Nicola Coughlan was about joining the show. Coughlan appears as a special guest in Doctor Who's 2024 festive special "Joy to the World."

The Bridgerton actress reunites with Barbie co-star Ncuti Gatwa in Doctor Who’s upcoming seasonal episode, which sees The Fifteenth Doctor and his new friend Joy (Coughlan) teaming up to stop the nefarious Villengard Corporation’s time travel plot. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Davies confirmed that Coughlan’s busy film and TV career weren’t an obstacle in getting her to join Doctor Who. “She was free and she loved it! She’s an old friend of Ncuti’s. I kind of knew her to say hello to and, to be honest, she bit our hands off,” the showrunner joked.

10 Best British Christmas Movies, Ranked
Image
The majority of classic Christmas movies are American, but Britain has also produced a few holiday heartwarmers over the years. The most obvious example is Love Actually, which often features in conversations about the very best Christmas movies, but there are many more British Christmas movies, even if they don't all have big international audiences. Many of these Christmas movies feature famous faces from Hollywood blockbusters.

The worst Christmas movies are often accused of cheap sentimentality, but this is something that British movies tend to avoid, simply because there isn't the same abundance of Christmas content each year. The few that have any kind of lasting relevance tend to offer something different to American Christmas movies, either because they focus on British holiday traditions or because they have quirky British humor.

Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol is one of the most recognizable stories in the world. The story of Scrooge being visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve in order to change his ways is so iconic that it has been adapted into nearly every medium, or to quote Bart Simpson regarding the story, "TV writers have been milking that goat for years." From the Muppets to Mickey Mouse to Batman, A Christmas Carol can seemingly fit any story. Alastair Sim's Scrooge, George C. Scott's 1984 A Christmas Carol, the modern retelling of Scrooged with Bill Murray, and even Jim Carrey's Uncanny Valley 2009 version are just a few of the iconic retellings of Christmas Carol. ‘A Nonsense Christmas’ Production Designer Breaks Down How the Sabrina Carpenter Special’s Festive Backdrop Came Together
Image
Constructing the world for a Netflix Christmas special with the vibe of an “old school holiday variety” program fitting for a modern pop queen is no easy task. Jason Sherwood was sure he was the right person to take on the challenge.

Sherwood first heard Sabrina Carpenter was planning to do a holiday variety special in July, just weeks before it was set to shoot in August, as he recalls it. “It was a four-week thing. It was a total blitz,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter on a Zoom.

The designer says as soon as he heard the concept for the singer’s special, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, it was clear that he was a “natural fit” for the project as his background includes theater, music and TV. Sherwood notes that he understood what the singer’s vision for the special was quickly.

For A Nonsense Christmas – which...

Wham! Makes Musical History, As George Michael’s ‘Last Christmas’ Tops UK Christmas Chart
Image
Wham!’s festive song Last Christmas never got to number one in the year of its release 1984, but it has scored a historical first, becoming the first track to occupy the festive chart’s top slot for a second consecutive year.

40 years after its debut, the song penned by George Michael beat off competition by Mariah Carey, Gracie Abrams, Tom Grennan and Ariana Grande to top the chart. This follows its success in reaching the same position last year, following a campaign by Wham! fans.

Michael’s bandmate Andrew Ridgeley told the BBC of his pleasure that his late friend’s talent had been recognised: “He would have been utterly delighted [that] his fabulous Christmas composition has become such a classic, almost as much a part of Christmas as mince pies, turkey and pigs in blankets.

“It’s testament to a really wonderful Christmas song that in a lot of people...

Or you can let us know some of your family traditions. Either way, the cast got together for the holidays, and they let loose and had a good time.

Ray Wise (Ian) and Colleen Zenk (Jordan) got into some good trouble for a change. The evil duo kicked off the game “This or That.” They opened a red gift box with questions inside. The question asked, “Real tree or artificial tree?” Both of them yelled, “Real tree.” Wise claimed that he cuts them down himself.

Susan Walters (Diane) and Peter Bergman (Jack) answered whether they liked candy canes or chocolate. No wonder why they have insane on-screen chemistry. They get along just as well behind the scenes. Both Walters and Bergman...

The lights are twinkling and the temperature is dropping. But in December 2024, the merry-making vibes are distinctly and resolutely… off. Lean into that discomfort with some Holiday Midnight Movie (and TV!) Madness as we celebrate a weird year.

After several particularly stressful months in current events, the pre-Christmas season feels oddly foreboding. That might be a welcome reprieve for those of us who are usually glum during the holidays (just me?), but the blues can sneak up on anyone. Whether you’re battling a bickering family or dealing with loneliness, weirdo cinema has the power to fight your funk with more funk.

When in doubt, clown it out!
