Mystery Box

You recognize an old theme of fairy tales . Well used, mixing the image on lonely young woman with the obscure object and its history, it is just a correct short horror.The twist is not so surprising but it is inspired builded, like the details defining the atmosphere. .

No pun intended - you may wonder what this can be about? What will you get? What is inside? Well there is a saying with a cat in the middle of it - no not the one where we wonder if the cat is dead or alive .. the one with the curious one ... no pun intended here either.

I guess this can be seen as a bit of a fairy tale ... or as a song says, wanting to break free. We do not know much about our main character ... but she does not seem to have a lot going on in her life. What is really happening, what are her highlights ... finding something mysterious would be one of those things I reckon.

Not sure if you can guess what this will ... contain ... but it is a neat surprise for sure ... also there is more to it! It really is engaging ... and might still have a grip on you after you've seen it ... can't close your eyes to it, even if you may not be able to see much ... in it (if you know, you know)

Plot

A woman named Moa is on vacation in the solitude of a cabin, on a small Island outside of Stockholm. One day when checking her fishing net, an old metal box is stuck in it.

Created by some folks involved in a few mid range horrors including a Puppet Master film.

Verdict

While out fishing on her little boat a woman pulls up an odd solid looking lockbox and brings it home but it doesn't take long before it begins to creep her out but surely she wouldn't open it, right?

At around the 10 minute mark its a fairly nifty little short with minimal cast and surprisingly high production values, it maintains suspense well and though the ending is not explained (At all) it's fairly memorable and competently done.

A Sweden/US collaboration it's one of those shorts that has you thinking but at the same time comes across a tad shallow.

I can confidently say that I wouldn't have waited like her and would likely have cracked it open within moments of getting it home out of sheer curiosity. However if a person started climbing out of a box little bigger than a football I'd have poked them back in with a broom, chained it back up, gift wrapped it and sent it to someone I don't like as a birthday present. Soooo yeah if you ever get an unexpected gift from me it might kill you #sorrynotsorry.

You found a box and you don't wonder what is inside first...Forcing horror story, meaningless. I didn't understand anything. I will tell this is totally waste of 10 min... Please give my 10 min back.
