IMDB needs to allow us to rate films Zero. The Kenyan Film industry needs a total shutdown and destruction so that it can rise from the ashes. Same old faces that have been boring us for the past 20 years with the same old try-hard barely convincing acting.
This is a "brave" film where we see Kenyans say progressive things like 'vagina', 'patriachy', 'open relationships' for the sake of it. Very poor acting, a plot that heads nowhere and an attempt at being cool and proving that the director is upto date with the latest feministic lingo.
Save yourself the pain of wasting your time trying to watch this nonsense. Just record yourself saying the latest woke head lingo over and over for 2 hours, then buy pop corns and watch yourself.

Thank God the person who wrote the dialog script. Catherine Kamau is one of the best supporting actress like ever. Pascal Tokodi, may you get more roles in the future and always do improv. I can literally mentioned all actors but i can only save the best for last. Brenda and Nick you guys rock..
The disconnect is the plot with any sense of logic. The story is all over the place. It is hard to keep track of who is who because the girls keep changing wigs and the men do strange homosexual acts, but they are supposedly heterosexual. The curse words are out of control. Can't even try to enjoy this movie because the language is so fowl. The characters are cursing in every sentence, but aren't making any point. The good note of this movie; the resort featured is absolutely beautiful. There are a few good comedic moments speckled throughout. The movie is not over 2 hours. Not worth watching.
Really nice Kenyan movie but with wayyyy too much cussing. The profanity ruined it for me. They had the F-Bomb so frequently in places it wasn't even warranted.
Please do better next time. Not everyone enjoys that kind of language.
The movie was fine overall.

Right, well I had never heard about this 2018 Kenyan romantic comedy titled "Disconnect". But of course I opted to sit down and watch it, as I had the opportunity here in 2022.
I can't claim that writers Natasha Likimani and Silas Miami managed to put together a storyline and script that appealed to me. The movie felt like it was aimed solely at a female audience. So I wasn't getting any entertainment value out of this movie.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble here, as this was my first Kenyan movie ever. And I can't say that it was because of the actresses or actors that the movie didn't appeal to me, because the cast did put on adequate enough performances. It was solely the storyline that fell short of finding any appeal with me.
If you enjoy the sugar-rushed sappy romantic comedy genre, spruced up with the ilk of "Sex and the City", then perhaps you should give "Disconnect" a chance. Perhaps this movie from directors David 'Tosh' Gitonga and Michael Jones will be something worthwhile for you.
My rating of "Disconnect" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
