Restless

Documentary about a core problem in Brazil: the violent and criminal behaviour of the police, often behind the speech that bandits should be killed and that human rights are a problem. This documentary spreads its discussion (perhaps a little more than the desirable), especially to the racism issue and the slavery heritage, but also to the same problem in the United States and to policemen's labour cinditions and career. Anyway, it shows initially and mainly a particular case that happened in Salvador: military policemen murdered a young man, ripped parts of his body off (head, hands and testicle) in order to avoid his identification, hid his corpse, and robbed his motorcycle. Bahia Military Police made eveything possible in order to make the case not to be solved, but insistence of his father and girlfriend and the work of a newspaper let the state crime to have a different aftermath (although still far from acceptable). Besides the various testimonies and footage of the funeral, the vítim's father reproduces what he did while looking for his son, in a fictionalized element that works well in the documentary.
