The Dead Thing opens with an extended montage that gives us a look at Alex and the dead-end routine that takes up her waking hours. Her job is a dead-end position that has something to do with layouts and printing and her social life is a stream of one-nighters arraigned via a hookup app named Friktion, a name that’s meant to evoke the feeling of skin on skin, but serves as an omen of the conflict it’s about to bring her way.

Throw in some Uv light therapy and avoiding her roommate Kara and that’s her existence, I say existence, because it seems a bit of a stretch to call it living. For all intents and purposes, she could be the dead thing the title speaks of.

Coinciding with her appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s show-stopping Super Bowl halftime show, Sza has expanded her most recent deluxe release with four new songs. This brings Lana (Sos Deluxe) to a mammoth 42 tracks.

Spearheading the list this year with 28 recommendations is TV crime drama The Rubber Faced Men by Faebian Averies (repped by Curtis Brown). The Universal International Studios project is set in West Wales, 1983, and follows a man and his teenage stepson who go about taking down an international drug smuggling ring after uncovering a secret bunker on the beach.

This year a minimum of 10 recommendations was needed for inclusion on the list. A total of 13 scripts by 15 writers made the cut. The selection was revealed Monday at an industry event in central London.

Le Sserafim have shared a new version of their recent single “Crazy” featuring PinkPantheress. The song initially appeared on the group’s mini-album Crazy, which dropped Aug. 30.

PinkPantheress is putting her health first. On Thursday, the musician announced that she’d be canceling all of her shows for the remainder of the year to prioritize her physical health and “overall well-being.”

“It is with the heaviest heart that I sadly have to announce that I will not be able to continue with the rest of my live shows this year in order to focus on my physical health and overall well-being,” she wrote in an Instagram story. “It appears I have reached a wall which I am struggling to penetrate through.

Experiences from the past shape the course of the future, a philosophical awareness that has been a recurrent topic in literature and art since antiquity. Netflix’s Turkish drama series Another Self draws this awareness to a quite literal definition, probably influenced by Middle Eastern spiritual beliefs, as we find characters getting entangled in a cycle of misery in the present due to traumas their ancestors faced in the past. Call it a weird version of genetic memory or a mystical connection with one’s roots; the concept is not really something original, and the approach taken by the makers of Another Life to address it with a melodramatic angle kind of undercuts the significance of the character development as well. However, there is a deeper cultural and historical significance embedded within the narrative, which makes this exploration of the past to reshape the present a much more nuanced ordeal than one would expect.

New York City’s newly-opened venue, Brooklyn Paramount, hosted PinkPantheress for two nights of performances on her Capable of Love tour this week. On Sunday, the singer performed her biggest hits and album deep cuts to a sold-out audience and welcomed Cash Cobain to the stage as a special guest. Saving the best for last, PinkPantheress brought Ice Spice and Kelela out to perform their respective collaborations during Monday’s sold-out show.

Carlos PenaVega is looking back at his first time touring nationally with Big Time Rush and admitted that it was actually “really hard” having fellow boy band One Direction as their opening act.

Exclusive: Yellowjackets actor Kevin Alves has set his directorial debuting though indie heist movie Lucky Weekend.

When it comes to director Piero Messina’s Another End, it’s almost necessary to begin with its ending. But only to say that its denouement isn’t unlike that of M. Night Shyamalan’s Sixth Sense, for how it confers meaning retroactively to the plot and will, most likely, leave you dumbfounded. Revealing more would mean spoiling this science-fiction film, which is as guilty of overtly sentimental dialogue as it is meticulous about revealing the rules of its world little by little. The screenplay’s last-minute plot twist is so astonishing that it all but makes one forget the hackneyed elements that structure the film.

“The Aisle” is as good a bellwether as any to determine if fans will take the leaps that PinkPantheress is asking of them. It’s more robust than anything we’ve heard from her before, with glossy disco inflections and drum work, and layer upon layer of jittering synths. The track’s invocation of disco and nod to 2Pac’s “California Love” are in service of mainstream pop consumption rather than a revivalist genre experiment. Its pastiche is certainly less “cool,” but PinkPantheress delivers it with a surprising ease.

The 13-song project, which was teased with the singles “Capable of Love” and “Mosquito,” follows the English artist’s breakout 2021 mixtape, to hell with it. Notable features from Ice Spice, Kelela, Central Cee, and Rema are sprawled across the album.

“The record is about grief for a loss but being at peace with yourself in your aloneness,” PinkPantheress said in a previous press release. “Journeying from hell into purgatory, but I’m Ok with being there.”

This weekend, PinkPantheress will play Camp Flog Gnaw ahead of her 2024 tour dates, which begin in February with a brief run across the UK and Europe. “Another Life,” the first song on PinkPantheress’ long-awaited debut album, Heaven Knows, opens with the ominous sound of an electrified cathedral organ. The collaboration with Nigerian musician Rema, in which the British singer wakes up next to her partner only to find him dead, fittingly sounds like a funeral. “Can you please wake up, babe? Now you’re scaring me,” she sings, before coming to terms with her reality: “Guess you died today, and I can’t believe it. You lost your soul, you know that you can’t stop this.

The CW is leaving the Wild West behind, cancelling Walker Independence after just one season, TVLine has confirmed. Earlier today, the mothership series Walker was renewed for a 13-episode Season 4.

Walker Independence‘s freshman season averaged 950,000 total viewers and a 0.1 demo rating (with Live+7 playback). Out of the 14 dramas that The CW aired this TV season, it ranks No. 4 in audience and is an eight-way tie for sixth in the demo.
