The acting was worse in this one for whatever reason. Storyline was boring. Debbie Gibson's voice was not that great either. Been a fan of her and her music since i was a child so that was very disappointing. This is another failed film with musicians turned actors that did not work out.
This fun movie made me laugh, cry and cheer for Debbie to follow her heart! The story was uplifting in every way. I found her relationships with her students and family touching. The relationship between Debbie and Noah was so inspiring - I would be interested to know where their love will take them next. The story was strong and the cinematography was memorable. Debbie's beautiful talent shined throughout the movie. The characters showed a lot of personality and heart, I'll look forward to watching it again with family & friends!
I'm a Debby Gibson fan back to her first single. I am 77 (!) and have been in the record and music business all my life, also a journalist and journalism teacher, also have been an actor and singer and for 52 years taught at a high school and was in fact a National Journalism Teacher of the Year. I watched this film waiting for something/anything to happen but nothing did. There was barely a plot and barely any characters; everyone seemed similar and no one seemed like anyone in real life. I think Debby clearly has the talent and smarts to make memorable films and at the same time films for family viewing on Hallmark. But the movies must have consequential plots, must have interesting and rich characters and must have feeling. I got no feeling from this film; did not for a second believe Debby and future husband were in love (or for that matter, knew each other well or, for THAT matter, were given anything memorable to do or say by the script). All the characters were sweet, smiling and absent of any emotion otherwise. I think Debbie singing her hit songs needs to be dropped or at least contained and new music emphasized; she is not 16 any more. And every film needs tension, surprises and temperament and none of that was present. Hallmark does love small towns and wholesome people and that is okay but every film needs a sense of real people, real life, real conflict and a real payoff. This film had none of that.I hope all this can be thought over and I hope Hallmark and Debbie will continue to do films. There is no question she has the brains, talent and appeal to do it and she does look fabulous. But the bar must set higher.
This movie is not the usual with overly used tropes, except for one stupid poorly executed one near the end.
The acting isn't great especially the leads. Debbie Gibson never seems real. Robert Gant likewise. Pascale Hutton seems a little like her character on When Calls the Heart except her advice is actually wise.
To be fair, there are some good moments. I wish they had spent more time with the school kids.

It was a sweet story line , but The two lead actors were terrible together. Especially bad were Debbie Gibson's acting skills. Pascale Hutton was really good in this one and didn't seem to mesh with the other two. Robert Gant wasn't too bad. But they were just too mis-matched as a couple. You sure can tell it was Debbie's movie cause if it wasn't she would have been fired. Her cheeks seem kind of un-natural and puffy, almost doll like... Is that what a bad botox treatment looks like? Oh brother, skip this one. (Sorry Pascale, I love your characters!)
