The six-episode original drama spans four decades from the 1980s to present day, with Mitchell Robertson and Stuart Campbell playing Niall (Robertson) and Ruben (Campbell) in their younger years.

Paul Ridd defines success in his role as Edinburgh International Film Festival chief using a two-pronged test.
“50% is the seven days of the festival, and how effectively we can deliver an amazing experience for our audiences and industry,” he explains. “And then 50% of it is about what happens to the films after our festival.”
Last year’s Eiff, his first in charge, he explains, was a model year.
“60% of the programme has either been picked up for distribution in the UK or has been distributed,” he says proudly. The key to supporting Eiff titles, he says, has been to engage “industry on a grassroots level”, highlighting films that are seeking distribution.
“We want to keep those stats up,” he says, adding that this year’s expanded industry section has been shaped to meet this goal. Changes include a new dedicated space for industry delegates at Tollcross Central Hall. The festival...

After two years of securing new channel positions on broadcast TV, refreshing schedules and revamping brand identities, Sinclair is ready to move into the next growth phase for its over-the-air multicast networks.
Later this year, the four networks — Comet, Charge, Roar (formerly Tbd) and The Nest — will increase the availability of premium TV series to drive further viewership growth.
Charge, which previously offered a schedule that consisted mainly of retro law dramas, will lean further into its offering of more-modern, premium police procedurals with the addition of “Criminal Minds” and “Homicide: Life on the Street.” The shows join “CSI: Miami,” “CSI: New York” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
Comet, the sci-fi and thriller multicast network, will add “Xena: Warrior Princess” and “The Outer Limits,” while continuing to offer hit TV series like “The X-Files” and “Grimm.

Carrie Coon is a gift. Ever since she made her Broadway debut as Honey in the 2010 revival of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," she's been one of the most sought-after actors for the kinds of roles that are reserved for performers who have that extra oomph factor. It's an ineffable quality. You just know it when you see it, and Coon possesses it in spades. She was transcendent on television as the grieving Nora Durst in "The Leftovers," the dogged sheriff Gloria Burgle in "Fargo" season 3, and would-be New York City socialite Bertha Russell in "The Gilded Age," and has also been sensational in movies like "Gone Girl," "His Three Daughters," and "Lake George." Coon is both an invigoratingly versatile actor and an arresting presence regardless of her character's demeanor.

If there’s one word that could be used to describe the cinema of Sean Durkin,it is “uncompromising,” as the Canadian-American writer/director has a unique ability to tackle uncomfortable stories about human relationships that feel so authentic that they are challenging to watch. Although Durkin’s debut Martha Mary May Marlene put him on the map as a director of note, it was his latest film, The Iron Claw, which received rave reviews, and went on to become one of the biggest successes in the history of A24. Part of the reason these films succeeded as much as they did was that they had inherently compelling subject material; Martha Mary May Marlene examined the process of cult brainwashing, and The Iron Claw was based on the true story of a tragic Texas family wrestling dynasty. However, Durkin’s most deeply moving film to date is the marital drama The Nest,...

Jude Law, the guest on this episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, is an Englishman who has been one of the world’s finest screen actors for some 30 years.
Twice Oscar-nominated before he was even 30, first for his breakout supporting turn in 1999’s The Talented Mr. Ripley and then for his first major leading role in 2003’s Cold Mountain, both of which were directed by Anthony Minghella, he has also been directed by Clint Eastwood, David Cronenberg, Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes, David O. On June 18th, 1984, Alan Berg was assassinated outside of his home in Denver, Colorado. They were also behind a series of bank robberies throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as stealing $3.6 million from a brinks truck in Ukiah, California. The goal was...

Since 2012, when she broke onto Broadway with “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” Carrie Coon has shared the stage (theatrical and sound) with a formidable number of acting icons. In “The Post,” she stood opposite Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep (while being directed by some nerd named Steven Spielberg). Then there’s “Widows” with Viola Davis, “The Nest” next to Jude Law, two “Ghostbusters” movies alongside Bill Murray, and, this critic would argue, “The Leftovers,” across from the incomparable Ann Dowd. Soon, she’ll be traveling back to “The Gilded Age” where she’ll thrust and parry with none other than Christine Baranski and Audra McDonald.
There are plenty more Oscar, Emmy, and Tony winners to add to the list — and more to come in the years ahead — but for all the praise Coon heaps on her cherished co-stars, she said there were only two times when she was “scared to...

Since we first reviewed it back in March, Star Wars Unlimited has gone from strength to strength. We didn’t spend much time with the second set of cards (Shadows of the Galaxy) but we have been lucky enough to get our hands on some early Twilight of the Republic product. This set consists of 257 cards and as with all of the sets we’ve seen so far, there are new leaders like Ahsoka Tano and General Grievous (who feature in the starter pack) and bases (such as Tipoca City and The Nest) but the bulk of the set is made up of units, upgrades and events that will make up a standard deck.
Twilight of the Republic includes a few different products for players to get stuck into. For new players, there is a starter set that features two complete 50 card decks, each with a leader and a base,...

With great reward comes great sacrifice. That is pretty much the mantra The Walking Dead has lived by through its many seasons to date in both the original series and all its spin-offs. Characters are forced to make difficult decisions. They come across new groups and must decide to trust them or not. They get close to people only to lose them. They lose, love, gain, and lose again. Every step in the right direction seemingly takes them two steps back. This formula has continued in the spin-off series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
The second season called The Book of Carol is well underway, and in episode four titled La Paradis Pour Toi, the long-awaited reunion between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and his best friend Carol (Melissa McBride) finally happens. But their joy is short-lived because it also marks a tragic death.

The world of The Walking Dead continues in the form of multiple new spinoffs that have placed the focus on some of the original show's most beloved characters. The credits rolled on that original series back in 2022, but there were still stories to tell; stories that came to life in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
The latter of those shows brought back Rick Grimes and Michonne earlier this year, and Dead City's Maggie and Negan will return for their second season next year. Daryl and Carol, however, they returned to screens just a few weeks ago for the second season of Daryl Dixon, subtitled The Book of Carol, which has aimed to reunite the titular pair.
But the Twd Universe isn't afraid to kill off a character or two even in the midst of something as heartwarming as a reunion.

The Peaky Blinders movie has revealed some of the actors set to reprise their roles from the show, as well as a handful of new actors who will be taking on previously unseen characters. The Peaky Blinders movie, which is rumored to be titled "The Immortal Man," is set to pick up the story of Tommy Shelby and his infamous family years after the ending of Peaky Blinders season 6, during World War II. Both Tommy and the Peaky Blinders have grown quite a bit since then, and the new cast members set to appear in the movie indicate they'll have new friends and foes to interact with.
The Peaky Blinders movie is still a long way off, so there aren't many confirmed details about it, even though it's the first of several upcoming Peaky Blinders spinoffs. As the Peaky Blinders universe begins to expand, however, it makes sense that the...

Backed by Mediaset España and Movistar Plus+, Cadiz’s South International Series Festival made an inaugural splash last year, showcasing some of Spain’s biggest series of the season.
In 2024, the Andalusia-based event has moved to a post-Mipcom stop-over berth, and with France as the guest country, attendance could well scale up.
Spain has hosted major TV markets for years now, including Conecta Fiction each summer and Iberseries & Platino Industria, which unspooled in Madrid last week. South sets itself apart by being a true festival in the vein of Canneseries or the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in France. While there will be plenty of roundtables, networking, and B2B get-togethers at South, the event’s main objective is to showcase some of the best new and new-ish series from around the world.

The second season of the hit AMC spinoff series “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” began with its premiere episode titled “The Kindness of Strangers.” The episode marked the return of fan favorite Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride, after she left the original “Walking Dead” series.
Carol’s comeback showed off her ability to survive dangerous situations. In one memorable scene, she escaped from a large group of walkers by rapidly building a shelter from greenhouse shelves. However, the episode focused more on Carol’s emotional state following the devastating loss of her daughter Sophia years ago on the original show. Viewers saw flashbacks of Sophia as a walker that stirred up Carol’s lingering grief.
This grief drove Carol’s actions in manipulating Ash, a kind pilot played by Manish Dayal. After Ash shared his own story of losing a son, Carol fabricated a tale that French officials took Sophia before the apocalypse.

There’s no question Carrie Coon broke out with HBO series “The Leftovers.” Landing that role was a big deal for the actress. “I had little on-camera work up to that point,” she told IndieWire over Zoom. “I had done some commercial work in Chicago. I had done one guest star on ‘The Playboy Club,’ with Laura Benanti. I didn’t have that much on-camera experience.”
But a Tony nomination for her performance as Honey in Steppenwolf’s 2012 production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” opened doors to meetings with casting directors — and her husband Tracy Letts. Ellen Lewis had Coon in for an audition. “I met with Damon [Lindelof],” said Coon. “I shot the pilot, which was only one speech, and then I went off and did ‘Gone Girl,’ which I also booked off a tape in my living room. I went through David Fincher boot camp. [‘The Leftovers’] was my first series regular job.

Justin Kurzel’s political thriller The Order will open the Zurich Film Festival in October with its star Jude Law in attendance alongside the director to receive the event’s Golden Eye Award for his performance and career.
Law plays a FBI agent who dismantles a far-right terrorist cell in the movie, which recently world premiered at the Venice Film Festival and then made its North American debut at Toronto.
The actor will be presented with the award at the Zurich gala premiere for The Order on October 3.
‘Jude Law is an absolute dream guest’, says Zurich Film Festival Artistic Director Christian Jungen. “He is not only the leading actor in the thriller The Order, which he carries from A to Z with his charisma, but also the producer.
“Although the film is set in 1983, it revolves around the machinations of right-wing extremist circles in the USA and is therefore highly topical.

Sinclair has weighed the possibility of offering its core “stack” of multicast networks on wallet-friendly streaming television services like Frndly TV, an executive affirmed in a recent interview with The Desk.
Earlier this summer, Sinclair’s Senior Vice President of Growth Networks Adam Ware said the broadcaster was open to the idea of offering its four multicast networks — Comet, Charge, Tbd and The Nest — on low-cost streaming services, even if it means those services do not necessarily offer Sinclair’s portfolio of local broadcast stations.
“Carrying the multicast networks doesn’t necessarily mean carrying our local stations,” Ware said. “I think the requirement for us is whether they have a meaningful lane, and a platform that’s a good environment for us to be in, and a loyal customer base that they’re serving.

Daryl Dixon heads to Spain in season 3 of the Twd spinoff, leaving France behind due to Genet's threat against him and fellow survivors at The Nest. As Carol returns in season 2 focused on reuniting with Daryl, it's likely he won't return to Alexandria until the series finale. The most controversial event so far has been Thursday evening’s premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s highly-anticipated Megalopolis. He said the film is “something of a mess; unruly, exaggerated, and drawn to pretension like a moth to a flame. It is also, however, a pretty stunning achievement, the...

British director Paul Andrew Williams’ next film is psychological thriller The Nest, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Andrea Riseborough.
Paul Andrew Williams is synonymous with gritty, low budget British filmmaking. Bursting onto the scene in 2006 with London to Brighton, he quickly built up an impressive filmography including showcasing the glorious double act of Andy Serkis and Reece Shearsmith in horror comedy The Cottage, home invasion horror Cherry Tree Lane and a change of direction with sweet musical comedy Song For Marion, which starred Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave. He returned to his roots in 2021 with dark thriller Bull, a revenge story featuring a powerhouse performance by Neil Maskell. It’s a tough watch but a terrific film, it is currently streaming on Netflix.
Williams will with Redgrave for his next film The Nest, the synopsis reads as follows:

Exclusive: Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave (Howards End) and Oscar nominee Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) have signed on to star in BAFTA-winning writer-director Paul Andrew Williams’ (Bull) next film, The Nest.
The film will chart the story of two neighbours who strike up an unlikely friendship, sometimes to the disapproval of others around them. Seeing the lack of care that her elderly neighbour Elsie (Redgrave) is receiving from so called professionals, Colleen (Riseborough) takes it upon herself to care for her. However, Colleen’s intentions may not be what they seem.
Filming is due to begin this summer in Yorkshire in the UK, with Amp launching sales in Cannes.
Pic is produced by Dominic Tighe (Giant Productions) and Marie-Elena Dyche (Meraki Films). Executive producers are Eilene Davidson (Eilene Davidson Productions), Naomi Despres and Michèle Marshall (Desmar Films), Caroline Cooper Charles (Screen Yorkshire), Bruno Wang and Jonathan Zimmern.

Kevin Von Erich's barefoot wrestling in The Iron Claw is an accurate representation of his real-life trademark style. The decision to go barefoot was influenced by knee surgeries and the desire to feel lighter in the ring. The legacy of barefoot wrestling continues with Kevin's son Marshall Von Erich following in his father's footsteps.
Kevin Von Erich wrestles barefoot in The Iron Claw for a very specific reason. Since releasing in theaters on December 22, 2023, The Iron Claw has cemented itself as one of the best films of the year, and one of, if not the, greatest wrestling movie of all time. Written and directed by Sean Durkin, The Iron Claw is as much about family tragedy as it is about wrestling told through the eyes of the real-life Von Erich brothers, played by Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons.

Stars: Olivia Nikkanen, Naomi Grace, Jayce Bartok, Devin Druid, Emilia McCarthy, Amy Hargreaves, Catherine Curtin | Written by Erik Bloomquist, Carson Bloomquist | Directed by Erik Bloomquist
The Bloomquist brothers, director Erik and co-writer Carson are back with their second film this year, following up their summer camp horror She Came from the Woods with Founders Day. Billed as a political slasher has an interesting history to it. The original concept dates back to 2011, and a script that was considered for inclusion in Project Greenlight. They even made a conceptual trailer for it before the project collapsed. And what better time to revive it than now in a time of political division and violence?
In the town of Fairwood, two things are fast approaching, its 300th anniversary and the election of its next mayor. The race is a contentious one, the first image we see is of a campaign sign being destroyed.
