I was lucky enough to see this film in Marseille, even though I am from Sydney, Australia so will have to wait a long time to see it in English.
The film centres on the birthday of the formerly bon viveur Max and his gang of at times free-loading, yet loving friends. It is evident that life hasn't treated him well.
I adored Little White Lies, which highlighted Guillaume Canet's great skill as a director, and once again he doesn't disappoint, I would even say surpassing the first film. Stand out performances from his partner Marion Cotillard, and mainstays such as Gilles Leleloche and Francois Cluzet.
A film about friendship, family and the strain that can be put on them by life changing. I feel lucky to have seen it.

First, engage your mind and then your heart to gain maximum enJoyment from this sequel to Little White Lies and make sure you watch the latter first.
Cluzet pulled off a remarkable performance as the troubled Max. The medically minded will know that the realism of his anxiety was incredibly authentic.
Cotillard amazed us with her portrayal of troubled Marie while Lellouche, Magimal, and Baert's expert superficial transformations but underlying fragility reflect The superb acting we've come to expect.
This emotional, humorous film enables the brilliant cast to explore their characters' vulnerability and resurrect their essence through much shared pain.
A brilliant film, but not for the shallow who expect their entertainment presented on a silver platter-Hollywood style.
Fantastic movie. The best french actors put together in one place. Subtle humor, intelligent. A real gem not to be missed. Ignore low ratings. They just dont get it.
This movie is the long-awaited sequel to Les Petits Mouchoirs (Guillaume Canet, 2010). After a long parenthesis without giving any sign of life, the 60th birthday of Max is the occasion of reunion, excuse and forgiveness, then animated and lively evenings in the Arcachon Bay, with a few nostalgia sequences. The film is based on the friendly relationships between a myriad of complementary and endearing characters. You might appreciate the movie. In the worst case, you will leave your movie theater with an irresistible desire for oysters.
Absolutely dreadful
Great acting
Appalling self-indulgent tale in which everything is so telegraphed that you guess the entire storyline within ten minutes; and yet it unfolds just so ... like you have seen your brakes fail and the car careen forward and you count all the trees ahead of you and hit each one one after the other ...
This is from Guillaume Canet one of the best actors of his generation and the man who directed Tell No One (2006)"Ne le dis à personne" arguably a masterpiece
What can one say? From the sublime to this?
The characters are so dull and predictable you want to weep; like caricatures of caricatures ...
At times it reminded me of a very poor remake of The Big Chill (1983)
Friends meet and one of them is no longer and emotions run sky-high etc
The actors here are some of the best of the last 15 years in French cinema and they act brilliantly but still ... don't bother
