    Little Film with Big Heart...

A Lovely little film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra with its story set in the Mumbai Slums, where Kanu & his mom lives. They dont have access to Toilet, and one day a tragic incident happens with the mom. The kid then decides to write to the Prime Minister to help his community. This film has a lot of heart & all the actors put a lot of emotions in their performances. The kid actors are mostly good but the story especially in the middle isn't fleshed out properly. The relationship between the son & mother is showcased beautifully. It is a well directed film that will bring a smile to your face.

    Don't judge, just watch.

Some movies are made just to watch and let sink in. It is one such movie. The journey of the innocence of a child through harsh realities of India has been beautifully portrayed. Don't expect ups and downs in the movie. It flows thoroughly in the same reality which it intends to project sweetened by the unconditional love between son and the mother supported by some compassionate characters around them.

Except for some forced songs, the movie is worthwhile.

    A rare gem

Wow, I watched this movie on netflix with no expectations and I was blown away by the story. Such a beautiful movie with a soul of its own. Goes on to show that you dont need a ton of budget but only a good script to make a good movie. I am shocked to see that only a handful of people have reviewed this here which means that not many people saw this while a lot of bad commercial movies get shoved down the throats of mass audiences. Such a shame.

This movie is among the best movies I have ever seen (and I have watched 900 plus movies in different languages by now)

The film is a sweet, slice-of-life drama about a kid who loves his mother.

After his mother is raped when she goes out at night to defecate, a young boy takes it upon himself to build a toilet for her and writes a letter to the Prime Minister to help improve the conditions in his slum.

When Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra decides to come up with another film on the same subject (Toilet ek prem kattha), you might hope he may have something more to say. Does he? Almost.

While (TOILET- EPK) film was a love story where a husband works at building toilets for his wife, here, we have a young boy named Kanhu (Om Kanojiya) who wants to do the same for his mother. In his quest for his slum to have a toilet, he writes a letter to the Prime Minister and travels to Delhi from Mumbai, to deliver the letter to the PM.

The first thing that the filmmaker avoids is to politicise the issue like other films about the subject have done, which in itself is a commendable thing. He focuses on the story instead which elevates the film from being a propaganda machine.

The strongest part of the movie is the casting. The young actors do a solid job and totally steal the show.

The weakest part of the film seems to be the story. Their journey to Delhi that the kids partake in, could have been made a bit more interesting.

The film is a sweet, slice-of-life drama about a kid who loves his mother and wants her life to be just a little bit better.

Dowdy and unpretentious, exactly as it should be

The genius of a Master is in making the audience forget that they are actually watching the work of a Master !

It is totally beyond my understanding how a Legend like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra can make a movie that appears like a Student Project !!

"Mere Pyare Prime Minister" has surprised me in the simplest way possible - by not trying to surprise at all.

He should write a book on how to shoot movies at different budget levels.
