It tackles the difficult to speak about subject of steroids. It follows genetically gifted Ghanaians who can't even eat enough without going bankrupt but continue to strive for recognition. It follows underdogs who are the only bodybuilders from their countries good enough to compete, showing their ups and downs. It breaks down the divisions further and teaches us more about them in a layman's way.
It's easy to hate on these documentaries given their nature and it's almost piggy-backing on the success of Pumping Iron. This time, however, I've never felt so inspired at the end of a Generation Iron documentary.
Well done. 8/10
The film's strength lies in its comprehensive coverage of the latest trends and changes in bodybuilding. It goes beyond mere physicality, exploring the psychological aspects, the rigorous training regimes, and the dietary discipline of athletes. This provides a holistic view of what it takes to succeed in modern bodybuilding.
The documentary is also commendable for its high-quality production and cinematography. The visuals are striking, capturing the intensity and passion of the bodybuilders in a way that's both artistic and authentic. The interviews and personal stories add a human element to the film, making it more relatable and engaging.
Generation Iron 3 stands out for its ability to keep the audience engaged, whether they are enthusiasts of the sport or newcomers. It's an enlightening journey into a world where physical prowess meets mental strength, showcasing the sport's evolution and the athletes' relentless pursuit of excellence.
In conclusion, Generation Iron 3 is a well-executed documentary that provides a compelling update on the bodybuilding scene. Its insightful content, combined with excellent production values, makes it a must-watch for anyone interested in the sport or documentaries that explore the depths of human potential.

Kai Greene: Yeah. I used to think it was bodybuilding, you know. But I've gotten a chance to grow a little bit more, just, just by way of having more opportunity to think a little deeper about it and be exposed to a lot. When it comes to the individual that's looking at you as a bodybuilder, a lot of times, it may be that bodybuilding becomes the platform that makes the introduction, but I think the thing that allows them to resonate well with you is beyond bodybuilding. The thing that may encourage someone most to want to pay attention to anything you have to say has more to do with their ability to identify themselves in you. That becomes everything. You know, 'cause without that, then there's just sets and reps and how much can you bench and how big is your chest versus this guy. But the things that are unique to your personality, the struggles that are revealed in, um, who you are, um, and how that reads on film a lot of times, is the thing that... allows people to want to take that journey with you.
