But after twenty minutes switched to a rerun of a real detective and had a better time. Storyline weak, acting abyssmal and slooow. The latter would not have been a problem if the plot and characters generated any interest. Pity, as my wife and myself hail from Alkmaar and were curious to see the beautiful city as a backdrop.

This looked interesting at first especially as the episodes were an hour and twenty minutes long, so one would hope for some deeper delving into personalities, characters and motives than in other police procedurals. Unfortunately this is not what we got. We were presented with a load of padding. These episodes could have been condensed into fifty minutes each and they wouldn't have suffered from it at all.

I have to confess I only watched the first episode and part of the second. The plot line in the first veered from incomprehensible to absurd. The resolution was not at all crédible. The second episode was steering itself in the same direction and worse, the subtitles were slightly out of sync. With this extra handicap on top of a lousy story, I baled out after twenty minutes.

I had high hopes but they were dashed.
